Damen Supplies Hybrid Patrol Vessel to Waternet
Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld-Giessendam recently delivered the Damen Patrol Vessel 1304 Hybrid, designed and constructed for Waternet (the Water Network Foundation). The most striking features of this hybrid patrol vessel are that it is clean, quiet, and can sail under Amsterdam’s bridges along the through routes. The “Waterspreeuw” – meaning “Dipper” in English – was ceremonially named by the Amsterdam Executive Councillor CarolienGehrels on June 17, 2013.
Windea Signs LOI for Damen Fast Crew Supplier
At the recent Windforce 2013 exhibition in Bremerhaven (Germany) Windea Offshore Group signed a Letter Of Intent (LOI) with Damen Shipyards Group for a new Fast Crew Supplier, a Twin Axe catamaran for the Offshore Wind industry. A typical feature of the FCS 2610 is the double Damen Sea Axe bow which creates a large uptime-window, amongst others by reducing slamming up to 70%. Damen Delivers Modular Cutter Suction Dredger
On June 1, the Cutter Suction Dredger Susanna II was handed over to its owner, Dutch dredging contractor Verboon Maasland. All members of the Verboon team were present with their families to celebrate the completion of the vessel and inspect the dredger: a renewed acquaintance. The Susanna II is the second stationary dredger for Verboon Maasland. The first one, Susanna, was also built by Damen Dredging – yet this was some 32 years ago.
Damen Dredger Starts Something in Africa
The new Damen CSD250 dredger delivered to Nigeria has already started on making its own pond, eventually to become a canal. The CSD250 has started creating a canal, which will flow eventually in the Benin River, and through to the Atlantic Ocean. The canal is initiated by Ossiomo Investments, the owner of the industrial park. On the park a fertilizer plant will be constructed, amongst other petrochemical plants.
Third Damen Stan Patrol for Mexican Navy
The Mexican Navy contracted Damen Shipyards Group for the design and material package of a Damen Stan Patrol 4207, including technical assistance. Construction of the vessel will start in the summer of 2013 at ASTIMAR 1 (Tampico), one of the five naval shipyards of Astilleros de la Secretaría de Marina. Damen Stan Patrols 5509 for Guardia di Finanza Corp
Together with its Italian partner yard Cantiere Navale Vittoria S.p.a., Damen Shipyards are building two Stan Patrols 5509 to the Italian Guardia di Finanza. This Italian law enforcement agency deals with financial crime, smuggling, illegal immigration and narcotics traffic and maintains a fleet of about 250 vessels. Multraship Orders Two Damen ASD 2810 Tugboats
Multraship confirms its purchase of the two tugs now being constructed in Romania for delivery in June/July 2013. Contracts for the two tugs, to be named Multratug 26 and Multratug 27, were signed during the course of Multraship’s recent annual client gathering in Terneuzen. Damen Contracted for DAFF Fleet Maintenance and Repair
The South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) assigned Damen Shipyards Cape Town (DSCT, part of Damen Shipyards Group) to get its fleet of Fisheries Research Vessels and Fisheries Protection and Surveillance Vessels operational as soon as possible. The scope of work includes repair works and ongoing maintenance. The DAFF Fleet currently consists of six vessels, including the 83m Offshore Patrol Vessel ‘Sarah Baartman’ and the 78m Research Vessel ‘Africana’.
Damen to Build Robert Allan Designed Rotor Tugs
Two new ART 80-32class Rotor tugs, the first vessels designed for KST B.V. under the recent agreement naming Robert Allan Ltd. as the exclusive designer of Rotor tugs, are to be built by the Damen Shipyards group for owners Elizabeth Ltd. This is the first time that the Damen Group will build a design from Robert Allan Ltd. Kotug has provided significant input into the requirements for this design, and Robert Allan Ltd., has developed a unique, customized design optimized for their operations.
Damen Deliver Twin-Axe OSV to Marineco
The ‘Marineco Thunderbird’ is UK-based Marineco’s fourth FCS 2610 Twin Axe to join its windfarm support fleet of vessels. Marineco was the first customer to buy one of these vessels nearly two and a half years ago, based on a design for an Offshore and Offshore Wind support vessel which Damen really believed in. The recent purchase of Thunderbird, Damen say, is proof of the concept and its future.
Damen to Build Rotortug Pair for Elisabeth Ltd.
Rotortug said that Elisabeth Ltd. has placed a new building order with Damen Shipyards for the construction of two Hybrid Advanced Rotortugs, ART 80-32 of 80 tons bollard pull. imultaneously Elisabeth Ltd ordered two ART 80-32, with Fifi 1, at Cheoy Lee Shipyards Ltd. They will be the first series of Rotortugs to be built at Damen Shipyards and Cheoy Lee Shipyards Ltd and will be added to the Kotug fleet.

Damen Redelivers Seven Vessels to HamburgSüd
In October 2012 Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam (DSR) won the contract for installing the first Becker Twisted Fin on seven container vessels of the fleet of Hamburg (Germany) based liner shipping company Hamburg Süd. To complete the project in time, the vessels were routed in such a way that they could each be dry-docked for a maximum of 6 days every consecutive week. All ships have now been re-delivered. The first vessel starting the cycle, MV Santa Catharina, was expected the December 30, 2012.

Damen Introduces Anti-Fouling Foil
Port of Amsterdam starts with sustainable film on patrol vessel. Damen Shipyards (Gorinchem, Netherlands) and the Port of Amsterdam are launching a pilot project to test Thorn-D, a relatively new antifouling film that is applied to ships’ hulls below the water line. The film has an expected lifetime of five years. That is much longer than conventional antifouling coatings, which need to be replaced every six months on average.
