Damen Shipyards Group Adapts Swiftly to New Argentinian Import Regulations
Damen Shipyards, which has already built up a considerable presence in Argentina since the nineties, is working very closely with Argentinian shipyards and looking forward to expanding its activities in the country. Currently, several Damen ASD tugs are being built in Argentina and very soon work will begin on an entirely new powerful pusher to serve the Hidrovía Paraná-Paraguay, the greatest waterway of South America.

Damen EcoLiner provides new vessel on LNG and integrated shipping concept for the inland shipping industry; ‘Total solution’ concept combines shipbuilding, ship management, the environment and economics. First LNG Booking for Damen Shiprepair Brest. Damen Shiprepair Brest (France) received her first firm booking for the drydocking, maintenance and repair of an LNG carrier. The Bonny Gas Transport-owned, 79,822 DWT ‘LNG SOKOTO’ will arrive at the yard end of August for maintenance work, including drydocking. Research Vessel Delivered by Damen for 'Silent' Operation
Damen delivers silent in operation Research Vessel ‘Simon Stevin’ to DAB Vloot, the Flemish Government fleet operator. Damen Delivers Cutter Suction Dredger 450 ‘Fen He’
A Damen CSD450 dredger was shipped within 3 weeks from receipt of the order. The environmental cutter suction dredger is right now on its way to Taiyaun, China, where it will arrive well in time to assist in fighting the sedimentation problem of the Fen river. The CSD450 dredger will be called ‘Fen He’, which means “River Fen” in Chinese. It will be based in Taiyuan in the Shanxi province in northern China. There, the river Fen leaves the mountains and flows through the city.

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) recently awarded Damen Shipyards Cape Town (DSCT) preferred bidder status to build a pilot boat and a tug boat for the Port of Saldanha in the Western Cape.
Patrol Boat Delivered by Damen to Albanian Coast Guard
The Stan patrol boats were ordered by the Albanian Ministry of Defence. Their main purpose is to execute patrol duties and Search and Rescue missions in territorial waters. The project included extensive knowledge transfer and the reconstruction of a naval shipyard. The first ship of the Stan Patrol 4207 project was built in the Netherlands and delivered to the Albanian Coast Guard in August 2008.

Mr Goris succeeds Mr André Hollander, who managed the yard (formerly known as Sobrena) from the time when Damen Shipyards Group took over its operations three months ago. Damen Shiprepair Brest employs 210 workers and operates 3 large graven dry docks of which the largest measures 420 m x 80 m. Mr Goris has vast experience in shiprepair & conversion and has been the Managing Director of Damen Shiprepair Götaverken (DSGö) in Sweden, which he has integrated in the Damen Shipyards Group.

Damen Shiprepair Götaverken aims to be the best within the Nordic countries, according to its new strategy. As part of this focus, Ms Monica Svenner has been appointed as the new MD. Ms Svenner has wide industrial experience as MD for several international companies, such as Stena Recycling and Atlas Copco. She is the first woman to take an MD post within the ship repair industry and as a Gothenburger she has a burning ambition for her new company.
Damen Introduces Simplified Technical English for DAMOS Software
As part of an ongoing effort to make its maintenance software program DAMOS (Damen Asset Management Operating System) even more user-friendly, Damen Shipyards has now captured its maintenance instructions in Simplified Technical English (STE100). This makes reading and understanding these instructions much easier for non-native speakers or inexperienced crew. Simplified Technical English (STE) has a controlled (English) vocabulary with sufficient words to write any technical text.
TNPA South Africa Orders From Damen Shipyards
The Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) in South Africa has ordered a Pilot Cutter 2706 and its fifth Stan Tug 2006 with Damen Shipyards Cape Town for operations in the expanding Port of Saldanha (South Africa). Both vessels have been specifically designed for the South African market. The Pilot Cutter 2706 will be delivered in May 2013 and the tug in March 2013. TNPA already operates four Damen Stan Tugs in South Africa. The STu 2006 is an enlarged design, based on the STu 1906.

Damen Acquires Swedish Repair Yard
Damen Shipyards acquires Swedish shiprepair yard Oskarshamnsvarvet. On May 16th, 2012 Dutch shipbuilding and -repair company Damen Shipyards Group has taken over the shares of Swedish ship repair and maintenance yard Oskarshamnsvarvet in Oskarshamn. The acquisition was prepared in close cooperation with the owners and includes the full continuation of the repair yard, both as to current operations and personnel. Oskarshamnsvarvet is a ship repair yard on the south-east coast of Sweden.

Kommer Damen Wins Lifetime Achievement Award at Seawork International 2012. Mr. Kommer Damen, Chairman of Damen Shipyards Group, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual Seawork Innovation Awards Dinner. Seawork International is in its 15th year and is the largest European workboat event. Arnout Damen, COO of Damen Shipyards Group, accepted the award on Tuesday night on behalf of Kommer Damen from the hands of Ms Caroline Dinenage, MP.
Multraship Taking Delivery of Damen ASD 3212 tug
Towage and salvage specialist Multraship is to take delivery of a new design of ASD 3212 tug from the Galati, Romania yard of the Damen Shipyards Group. The new ASD 3212 Multratug 19 has been built to a completely new design specification developed after a period of intensive research. Multraship’s specification called for a tug with minimum 80 tons bollard pull (BP), able to serve specific market segments.
