Rederij Groen Orders another Damen Vessel
During a contract signing ceremony at Europort 2013, Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam, part of Damen Shipyards Group signed the contract to build an additional Seismic Research Support Vessel for Rederij Groen. This latest contract follows last month’s order of two new Seismic Research Support Vessels (SRSVs) that are due for delivery in the third quarter of 2014. This third vessel, initially only an option, completes the latest phase of RederijGroen’s expansion and will be delivered in 2015.
KNRM Rescue Vessel Passes Capsize Trials at Damen Shipyard

Damen Quick Docking/Fuel Saving Package
Damen Shiprepair & Conversion developed a new product, the Quick Docking/Fuel Saving package, offering owners a fast and low-cost additional docking with the sole aim of reducing fuel consumption in between the five-year statutory survey period. The first vessel booked under the new concept has docked at Damen Shiprepair Brest (France). It is the capesize bulker Castillo De Catoira operated by Spanish company Empresa Naviera Elcano.
Third Damen PSV Delivered to World Wide Supply
Damen Shipyards Galati has handed over the third Platform Supply Vessel in a series of six to World Wide Supply of Norway. Rederij Groen Orders Two Damen Support Vessels
Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam (NL), part of Damen Shipyards Group, has been contracted again by Rederij Groen (NL) after delivering two chasers, the Aquarius-G and the Astra-G, earlier this year. The new Seismic Research Support Vessels’ deliveries are planned in the third quarter of 2014, while shipowner Groen has taken an option on a third, identical vessel to be delivered in 2015. Damen Books Four More Twin Axe FCS 2610 Orders
Marineco UK placed another order for two more Damen FCS 2610 Twin Axe vessels to serve its offshore wind activities, and Sure Wind, a British company specializing in the German market and new customer for Damen, has ordered two as well. The Scottish company Marineco was the first customer for the Damen Twin Axe vessel, which has become the industry standard since its introduction just over two years ago. Marineco’s two new additions will be delivered in 2014.
Van Oord Contracts Damen for DP2 Cable Laying Vessel
Van Oord has ordered a new cable laying vessel. The ship will be built at Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania and will be completed at the end of 2014. The vessel is intended for the installation of electricity cables for offshore wind farms. Van Oord is making preparations for the Gemini offshore wind farm which will be constructed 60 kilometers to the north of Schiermonnikoog, one of the Dutch Wadden Islands. The cable-laying vessel will be deployed at that site, among many others.
BINCO Contracts Damen for Seven Workboats
A special contract signing ceremony between Bin Nowiran for Trading & Contacting Co-(BINCO) (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) and Damen Shipyards Group (The Netherlands) has taken place on October 1, 2013 during the Seatrade Middle East Workboat & Offshore Marine exhibition in Abu Dhabi (UAE). The vessels will be operated by BINCO in Kuwait to serve SPM operations of Saudi Arabian Chevron’s marine export facility at Mina Saud in the PNZ.
Damen Trading Delivers Several Vessels
Trading in preowned vessels continues to be a popular choice for many customers. Damen Trading facilitates the sale and purchase of both Damen and third-party vessels. Recent deals highlight how trading in vessels results in a win-win situation for buyer and seller. Damen Delivers Twin Axe to Northern Offshore Services
Northern Offshore Services has taken delivery of its first Damen Twin Axe, just weeks after the order was placed in August. The 26-meter Fast Crew Supplier is already being deployed at an offshore wind farm in the North Sea. Crewboat operator Northern Offshore Services has offices in Sweden and Denmark and a fleet of nearly 20 vessels. The company specializes in the safe and reliable transport of personnel and equipment to the offshore (wind) industry and is a new customer for Damen.
LR Class New Brazil-bound Damen PSV's
'World Diamond', the first of a series of six uniquely designed platform supply vessels (PSV), was christened recently by the ship’s godmother, Princess Margareta of Romania, at Damen Shipyards’ Galati in Romania. Each of these PSVs is classed by Lloyd’s Register and is of 3,300 dwt with a breadth of 16.2 metres and draught of 6.5 metres. The remaining five PSVs will be delivered to their owner, Norwegian offshore support company, World Wide Supply AS (WWS), later this year.
New Damen PSV for World Wide Shipping
Damen Shipyards Galati has handed over the second platform supply vessel in a series order heralding a new era in offshore construction for Damen Shipyards Group. World Peridot, built to Damen’s PSV 3300 design, has been delivered to World Wide Supply. Delivery comes just seven weeks after the handover of the first of class PSV 3300, World Diamond, and is part of a rolling six-ship handover schedule from Damen for WWS.
Naviera Contracts Damen for Two Fast Crew Suppliers
Juan Pablo Vega, president of Mexican offshore operator Naviera Integral, signed a contract for two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers 5009. With these vessels Naviera Integral will continue to serve its client PEMEX, delivering personnel and cargo from and to platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Both vessels will be operating out of Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico’s main offshore hub. The 50-meter crew boats, designed with the Damen patented Sea Axe bow, are currently under construction at Damen yards in Vietnam.
Fourth Damen Stan Patrol for Mexican Navy
In the first week of August the Mexican Navy (Secretaria de Marina) and Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract for a fourth Damen Stan Patrol 4207. The Dutch ship design and shipbuilding company will supply the Mexican Navy with the design and material package with which ASTIMAR 1 (the Mexican Navy yard in Tampico) will build the patrol vessel. In addition, Damen will assist ASTIMAR 1 with technical support in order to optimize the delivery time and quality of the vessel.
Largest Damen Stan Pontoon for McKeil-Malaspina
The largest pontoon ever stock-built by Damen was sold to the Canadian McKeil-Malaspina partnership and will be towed to Newfoundland on the east coast of Canada this summer where it will be used to support offshore construction operations. The Damen Stan Pontoon 12032 measures 120 x 32.2 meters, has a deadweight capacity of approximately 20,000 tons and a hold of 8.1 meters. The barge is equipped with a sophisticated ballast system, generating set and mooring winches.
Damen Delivers Fast Crew Supplier to Sea Consult
Danish company Sea Consult ApS has taken delivery of its first Damen Twin Axe as the company prepares to enter the offshore wind market. Based in Marstal, Sea Consult is a new customer to Damen and this will be the first Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 to be operated by a Danish company. The vessel already has work at Belgian and German offshore wind farms for the next year and the company’s new vessel is expected to be deployed in the next two weeks.
Damen Shipyards Among Top Three Green Firms
De Telegraaf, the largest newspaper in the Netherlands, placed Damen Shipyards with other winners, Moonen Packaging and Conscious Hotels among the top 3 greenest companies in the Netherlands. The jury honoured Damen’s first hybrid tug with the term “Dutch pride”. After the event, De Telegraaf’s port specialist Mr Theo Jongedijk visited the Tugboat department at Damen’s HQ in Gorinchem; there, he handed the prize, a ‘Green T’, over to Mr Coen Boudesteijn, Product Director Tugs.
Five More Damen Twin Axes for MCS
With its latest delivery, Maritime Craft Services (MCS) said it has become the largest Twin axe owner and operator to services for offshore built wind turbines. Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd. took delivery of three more Twin Axe wind farm support vessels in June and two more will arrive next month. With the introduction of the five new Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers, MCS has the largest Twin Axe fleet in the offshore wind industry.
