New Damen PSV for World Wide Shipping

Damen Shipyards Galati has handed over the second platform supply vessel in a series order heralding a new era in offshore construction for Damen Shipyards Group. World Peridot, built to Damen’s PSV 3300 design, has been delivered to World Wide Supply. Delivery comes just seven weeks after the handover of the first of class PSV 3300, World Diamond, and is part of a rolling six-ship handover schedule from Damen for WWS.
Naviera Contracts Damen for Two Fast Crew Suppliers

Juan Pablo Vega, president of Mexican offshore operator Naviera Integral, signed a contract for two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers 5009. With these vessels Naviera Integral will continue to serve its client PEMEX, delivering personnel and cargo from and to platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Both vessels will be operating out of Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico’s main offshore hub. The 50-meter crew boats, designed with the Damen patented Sea Axe bow, are currently under construction at Damen yards in Vietnam.
Fourth Damen Stan Patrol for Mexican Navy

In the first week of August the Mexican Navy (Secretaria de Marina) and Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract for a fourth Damen Stan Patrol 4207. The Dutch ship design and shipbuilding company will supply the Mexican Navy with the design and material package with which ASTIMAR 1 (the Mexican Navy yard in Tampico) will build the patrol vessel. In addition, Damen will assist ASTIMAR 1 with technical support in order to optimize the delivery time and quality of the vessel.
Largest Damen Stan Pontoon for McKeil-Malaspina

The largest pontoon ever stock-built by Damen was sold to the Canadian McKeil-Malaspina partnership and will be towed to Newfoundland on the east coast of Canada this summer where it will be used to support offshore construction operations. The Damen Stan Pontoon 12032 measures 120 x 32.2 meters, has a deadweight capacity of approximately 20,000 tons and a hold of 8.1 meters. The barge is equipped with a sophisticated ballast system, generating set and mooring winches.
Damen Delivers Fast Crew Supplier to Sea Consult

Danish company Sea Consult ApS has taken delivery of its first Damen Twin Axe as the company prepares to enter the offshore wind market. Based in Marstal, Sea Consult is a new customer to Damen and this will be the first Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2610 to be operated by a Danish company. The vessel already has work at Belgian and German offshore wind farms for the next year and the company’s new vessel is expected to be deployed in the next two weeks.
Damen Shipyards Among Top Three Green Firms

De Telegraaf, the largest newspaper in the Netherlands, placed Damen Shipyards with other winners, Moonen Packaging and Conscious Hotels among the top 3 greenest companies in the Netherlands. The jury honoured Damen’s first hybrid tug with the term “Dutch pride”. After the event, De Telegraaf’s port specialist Mr Theo Jongedijk visited the Tugboat department at Damen’s HQ in Gorinchem; there, he handed the prize, a ‘Green T’, over to Mr Coen Boudesteijn, Product Director Tugs.
Five More Damen Twin Axes for MCS

With its latest delivery, Maritime Craft Services (MCS) said it has become the largest Twin axe owner and operator to services for offshore built wind turbines. Maritime Craft Services (Clyde) Ltd. took delivery of three more Twin Axe wind farm support vessels in June and two more will arrive next month. With the introduction of the five new Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers, MCS has the largest Twin Axe fleet in the offshore wind industry.
Damen PSV Delivered to World Wide Supply

Damen Shipyards Galati has delivered the World Diamond, the first of six Platform Supply Vessels for Norwegian offshore owner World Wide Supply, built to an entirely new Damen design. The World Diamond was christened by godmother Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Margarita of Romania on June 28, in a yard ceremony attended by 150 guests. “Delivery of this first PSV3300 represents a new era in Damen’s continuing offshore supply vessel story,” said Arnout Damen.

Damen Shipyards Group announced the sale of a 27m workboat, a Damen Shoalbuster 2709 displayed on the pontoons at Southampton U.K.’s Seawork exhibition (June25-27), to GPS Marine of Chatham, U.K. Casper Vermeulen, Sales Manager Europe, commented, “The Managing Director of GPS Marine came on to the stand and made us an offer for the Shoalbuster displayed on the pontoons. After half an hour of negotiation, we shook hands.
Solent Contracts Damen for Two Stan Tugs

Damen Shipyards Group has been contracted for a STu1205 and a STu1606 for Solent Towage at the U.K’s Seawork International exhibition. The vessels will be delivered by October 1, 2013 and deployed for work on Exxon at the Fawley Oil Refinery, on Southampton Water. Solent Towage has owned a Damen vessel for 18 years, which has clocked up 36,000 engine hours. Among its fleet of seven vessels, it’s the favorite among the crew, so Damen was the obvious choice for expansion.

Damen Shiprepair Brest (France) returned the Ultra Large Crude Carrier (ULCC) TI Europe to its owners EURONAV (Belgium) after completing a full technical survey and service. The sheer size of the vessel represents a considerable challenge in itself, he says, with the shipyard applying more than 46,000 square meters of silicon paint. However, the yard can comfortably accommodate such vessels given that its largest drydock, at 420 x 80 meters, is one of the biggest in Europe. damen.com
Damen Introduces Arctic Towing Supply Vessel Concept

Last February, five Maritime Engineering bachelor students of the Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands) finished their Minor on Arctic Engineering. In cooperation with Damen Shipyards Group and other partners this project has now resulted, amongst others, in a new Arctic vessel: the Damen AMTSV (Arctic Modular Towing Supply Vessel). The 100-meter double acting supply ship is capable of operating in the Barents Sea year round and in the Baffin Bay and Beaufort Sea for 8 months.

Damen Supplies Hybrid Patrol Vessel to Waternet

Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld-Giessendam recently delivered the Damen Patrol Vessel 1304 Hybrid, designed and constructed for Waternet (the Water Network Foundation). The most striking features of this hybrid patrol vessel are that it is clean, quiet, and can sail under Amsterdam’s bridges along the through routes. The “Waterspreeuw” – meaning “Dipper” in English – was ceremonially named by the Amsterdam Executive Councillor CarolienGehrels on June 17, 2013.

At the recent Windforce 2013 exhibition in Bremerhaven (Germany) Windea Offshore Group signed a Letter Of Intent (LOI) with Damen Shipyards Group for a new Fast Crew Supplier, a Twin Axe catamaran for the Offshore Wind industry. A typical feature of the FCS 2610 is the double Damen Sea Axe bow which creates a large uptime-window, amongst others by reducing slamming up to 70%. Damen Delivers Modular Cutter Suction Dredger

On June 1, the Cutter Suction Dredger Susanna II was handed over to its owner, Dutch dredging contractor Verboon Maasland. All members of the Verboon team were present with their families to celebrate the completion of the vessel and inspect the dredger: a renewed acquaintance. The Susanna II is the second stationary dredger for Verboon Maasland. The first one, Susanna, was also built by Damen Dredging – yet this was some 32 years ago.
Damen Dredger Starts Something in Africa

The new Damen CSD250 dredger delivered to Nigeria has already started on making its own pond, eventually to become a canal. The CSD250 has started creating a canal, which will flow eventually in the Benin River, and through to the Atlantic Ocean. The canal is initiated by Ossiomo Investments, the owner of the industrial park. On the park a fertilizer plant will be constructed, amongst other petrochemical plants.
Third Damen Stan Patrol for Mexican Navy

The Mexican Navy contracted Damen Shipyards Group for the design and material package of a Damen Stan Patrol 4207, including technical assistance. Construction of the vessel will start in the summer of 2013 at ASTIMAR 1 (Tampico), one of the five naval shipyards of Astilleros de la Secretaría de Marina.
