Metal Shark to Build Damen Designs
Vessel manufacturer Metal Shark has reached an agreement with Damen Shipyards to market Damen designs, which the company will construct at its Franklin, Louisiana shipyard. “We are proud to offer globally proven Damen designs as we expand our footprint in new markets,” said Metal Shark president Chris Allard. The Damen announcement caps off a busy year for Metal Shark, which announced the acquisition of its new Franklin shipyard in January.
Damen Delivers ASD Tugs to ARC Towage

Damen to Refit Helix Well Intervention Vessel
After having docked and repaired the MSV Seawell in 2012 and DSV Well Enhancer earlier this year, Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen (DSV) was contracted by Helix UK to perform a major upgrade on the light well intervention/dive support vessel MSV Seawell. The Seawell is expected to arrive at the yard during second half of December 2014. As the upgrade will be executed over the winter season, DSV has offered its covered drydock with a 300 tons overhead crane.
Damen Delivers Tug for Scrabster Harbor
Scrabster Harbor Trust (UK) has taken delivery of a new harbor tug / workboat, a Damen Stan Tug 1606. The vessel, named Highlanders, will replace itscurrent workboat which was built in 1976. The new tug will undertake pilotage, towing, general harbour and maintenance duties. Scrabster Harbour in northern Scotland is attracting much larger vessels and cargoes in need of larger tugs for their assistance.
Naviera Integral Orders Damen Fast Crew Suppliers
Naviera Integral of Mexico is the launching customer of Damen’s new Sea Axe Fast Crew Supply vessel, the FCS 4008. President of Naviera Integral, Juan Pablo Vega, signed the order for the two new vessels at an official ceremony at the Offshore Energy Exhibition in Amsterdam. Damen Lands Cruise Ship Repair Work
Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam (part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion) has been awarded a cruise repair and maintenance contract from MSC Cruises. Built in 2010, the MSC Magnifica is 293 meters long and has a capacity for more than 2,500 passengers. She arrived in Rotterdam on October 20 and is berthed at the yard’s largest drydock, which is 307 meters long. The timescale is tight, with the ship expected to stay for 18 days.

A new interactive website has been launched for the DAMEN DOP submersible dredge pump range. The website, www.DOPDredgePumps.com, highlights the versatility of this wear-resistant dredge pump. The DOP pump has been used by the dredging industry around the globe for almost 25 years. Damen Delivers 2nd ASD Tug to ARC Towage
The second of four Damen ASD Tugs 2810 for ARC Towage (Spain) has left for Trinidad. There, the Guapo Warrior will join the fleet of Joint Venture company ARC Towage, which will provide the gas terminal berthing services for a significant energy industry player in Trinidad and Tobago. The tugs have been and are being built at Damen Shipyards Galati (Romania) and will be delivered by Damen Services teams in Trinidad and Tobago before January 1, 2015.
Seacontractors Milestone with Three Damen Workboats
Customized vessels demonstrate capabilities in demanding global markets. Seacontractors has expanded its workboat fleet with three new orders at Damen Shipyards Group, including the maritime services provider’s ninth vessel from the Shoalbuster range, a Damen Shoalbuster 3209. In addition, Seacontractors’ order for two Stan Tugs makes it the launching customer for the new 70-tonne bollard pull STu 3011 design.
First Damen ASD 2810 Leaves for Trinidad
On July 31, 2013, ARC Towage signed four contracts at the Netherlands shipbuilder Damen Shipyards Group. The newbuilding contracts with ARC Towage are the result of a special joint venture set-up for the terminal berthing services for a significant energy industry player in Trinidad and Tobago. The first Damen ASD 2810, MV Kairi, left for Trinidad, while the second vessel will leave in two weeks. The last two tugs will arrive mid-December this year.
Nigerian Customer Orders Ninth Damen Dredger
A Nigerian customer has added its ninth Damen dredger to its fleet. The Cutter Suction Dredger type CSD500 was chosen due to the availability of Damen Field Services in Nigeria, the builder said, adding that the local presence was even more practical in view of the challenging assembly conditions. For Damen’s Service Hub Nigeria this job is one of the first successes. Damen Shipyards Group standardly has a spares-stock available in Nigeria for standard dredgers such as the CSD500.

Royal Navy of Oman Takes Delivery of Damen Clipper
On September 12, the Royal Navy of Oman formally accepted ownership of its new sail training vessel at a ceremony at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. The three-masted steel clipper, named RNOV Shabab Oman II, will sail the world’s oceans as an ambassador for Oman, demonstrating the country’s centuries-old maritime tradition. The 87-metre vessel is Damen's third such clipper, proving the value of Damen’s reliable craftsmanship and engineering.

Damen Delivers Tug to Bremenports
Bremenports, the management company for the twin German ports of Bremen and Bremenhaven, took delivery of its first Damen-built vessel – a Stan Tug (Stu) 1606. Built to a proven design and delivered on time, the tug, named Albatros, will be mobilized primarily in assisting maintenance dredging works at the ports. The 16.76 meter Stu 1606 will assist Bremenports’ own bucket dredger in maintenance dredging works at the two ports in northern Germany.

Seaspovill Orders Second Damen Fast Ferry
South Korean operator Seaspovill signed its second contract for a Fast Ferry with the Netherlands-based shipbuilder Damen Shipyards Group. The Fast Ferry 4212 - to be named SEA STAR 5 - will operate between Mookho and Ulleung-Do at the East-coast of South Korea. The ferry is a high-speed catamaran passenger ferry.
