Damen Delivers Shoalbuster to MCS in 8 Days

Maritime Craft Services (MCS) recently took delivery of a new Damen Shoalbuster 2609. Damen has delivered numerous Crew Transfer Vessels, Multicats, and Shoalbusters to MCS – the two companies have a long-standing relationship. What is notable about this latest delivery, however, is the incredibly short timeframe involved. MCS owner Dirk Kuijt and Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld managing director Jos van Woerkum signed the contract on March 12, and just eight days later, MCS took delivery.

MacGregor Wins Damen RoRo Contract

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has secured a contract from Dutch shipbuilding group, Damen Shipyards, for the design and delivery of key components for RoRo access equipment for two 80m ice-class RoPax ferries destined to operate in Canada. The investment in these new vessels is part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Government's vessel renewal programme. The first ferry is scheduled for delivery in 2015 and will operate on the Fogo Island and Change Islands service.
Damen Completes PSV Order for World Wide Supply

The official christening of the World Sapphire marks the completion of a six-ship order whereby Damen Shipyards has delivered six Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) to Norwegian company World Wide Supply (WWS) AS in just six months. The Damen PSV 3300 features a radical design rethink, with a wave piercing bow, slender hull lines and diesel electric propulsion with azimuth stern drives, combining to optimize seakeeping and fuel efficiency.
Naviera Integral Orders 4 Damen Sea Axe Vessels

Mexican offshore company Naviera Integral and Damen Shipyards Group signed a contract for four more Damen Fast Crew Suppliers 5009 (FCS 5009). The first two vessels will be delivered from stock and will be handed over in Vietnam on April 16th of this year. The other two vessels will start construction soon, with their delivery planned for July 2015. All four vessels will operate in the Gulf of Mexico, under a direct contract from PEMEX, the Mexican state oil company.

A charter agreement between expanding subsea contractor DeepOcean and Maersk Supply Service has triggered an order for a Damen Offshore Carrier DOC 8500 - the second order for this new ship design from Damen Shipyards Group. The DOC 8500 will extend DeepOcean’s capabilities in the larger cable laying end of the market, representing a new focus on Interconnector projects, in addition to oil and gas sector and renewables work.

The recently delivered SL Mbissi will be the next Damen-built vessel in fleet of Smit Lamnalco. Nonetheless, the 25-meter shallow water workship is special in more ways than one. Firstly, it’s the first-ever Damen Shoalbuster for Smit Lamnalco. Although Smit Lamnalco, a provider of integrated marine services, already deploys many Damen-built vessels – six of which having been delivered in the past 15 months alone – it had yet to order a Damen Shoalbuster SD.

Smit Lamnalco has taken delivery of, and will soon deploy, the SL Kiwi. It’s their second tug of the Damen STu 2208 type. The 39.4-metric-ton bollard pull tug will join the sister ship SL Kittiwake, delivered late 2012, to support Single Point Mooring operations. Built at Damen’s facilities in Gorinchem, the Netherlands, the SL Kiwi left Rotterdam on board a Heavy Lift vessel by Christmas 2013. From Smit Lamnalco’s perspective the short lead time was important.

Homeland Integrated Offshore Services Limited (HIOSL) has taken delivery of a Damen FCS 3307 Patrol, to be deployed offshore Nigeria, in the next few weeks. PROMAR Orders Two Damen PSVs

Swiss company PROMAR has ordered two Platform Supply Vessels from Damen Shipyards Group as it looks to further expand the offshore fleet under its management in the next five years. The first Damen PSV 3300 will be delivered in February 2015, and the second in August of the same year. Damen Shiprepair Brest (France) received a booking for the drydocking and repairs of two shuttle tankers managed by Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers A/S. The 88,109 GRT sister vessels Karen Knutsen and Sallie Knutsen expect to arrive end February and Middle of March respectively. The first of two Damen Twin Axe Fast Crew Suppliers has officially been handed over to British company Sure Wind. A specialist in the German offshore wind market, Sure Wind already has work for the two newbuild FCS 2610 vessels. The first vessel Sure Star will head straight to Esbjerg and will then be deployed in the German market. A second sister vessel, Sure Swift will be delivered end-February.

The platform supply vessel World Diamond was delivered by Damen Shipyards, Galati, on June 28, 2013, to World Wide Supply. The PSV was built to a completely new and distinctive design from Damen, and World Diamond is the first of six PSVs for the Norwegian owner. The vessel is capable of worldwide operations and its construction involved close cooperation with Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, The Netherlands, which provided engineering and main equipment.

Fifth Damen PSV for World Wide Supply

Damen Shipyards Group is set to deliver the fifth Platform Supply Vessel in a series of six to World Wide Supply of Norway. World Opal is a Damen PSV 3300 CD. The first ship, World Diamond, was delivered in July and the last in the series World Sapphire is due to be delivered mid-December. Delivery of the new design involved extensive CAD/CAM modeling by Damen Shipyards itself and model testing at Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN).
