OWS Orders Damen Vessel for Dutch Offshore Project
Dutch company Offshore Wind Services (OWS), specialists in the provision of crew transfer vessels to the offshore wind industry have ordered a Damen FCS 2008. This is the company’s second vessel ordered from Damen this year. Damen Shipyard Den Helder in the Netherlands will meet the specific requirements of the client. This includes outfitting the vessel with a second generator set and offshore crane. She will also be painted in the company’s colors. The vessel is to be named Offshore Waddenzee.
Great Lakes Shipyard Now a Damen Licensed Builder
Great Lakes Shipyard (GLS) informed that it has entered into a five-year agreement with B.V. Scheepswerf Damen Gorinchem authorizing the Cleveland shipyard as an official builder of Damen designs.

Damen Expands Rix Sea Shuttle Offshore Fleet
U.K.-based Rix Sea Shuttle will shortly take delivery of their first ever Damen vessel – a Fast Crew Supplier 2610 – to support its growing involvement in the offshore crew transfer market. The new vessel, the Rix Lion, is due for delivery on July 4, six weeks after the contract was signed. “Our yards in Singapore and Vietnam build the FCS 2610 as a stock model,” said Damen Sales Manager United Kingdom & Ireland Arjen van Elk.
Norwegian Aquaculture Workboat Marks Damen Entry
Damen Shipyards Group said it has received an order for a Multi Cat 2712 from Norwegian owner Samba AS based in Os (Bergen). The vessel will be the first newbuild from Damen’s proven range of workboats to operate in Norway’s large aquaculture and oil spot market industry. Living up to Damen’s reputation for fast delivery from stock, Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld in the Netherlands will deliver the vessel in June after completing a number of client-specified customizations.
Damen to Debut Containerized BWT System
Damen Shipyards Group announced it will unveil a new mobile ballast water treatment (BWT) unit at the Posidonia exhibition in Athens next week. The new in-house technology bolsters Damen’s Ballast Water Center of Excellence, which advises fleet managers on total BWT solutions for retrofits and newbuilds worldwide. Developed in-house, the fully containerized, mobile Damen InvaSave BWT unit provides ship owners with a cost-effective alternative to retrofitting fixed BWT systems.

Dignitaries from the Ministry of Defense of Oman joined senior Damen management at a ceremony at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, Vlissingen on May 8 to mark the naming of the Royal Navy of Oman’s new flagship, the Sail Training Clipper Shabab Oman II. Windwave First to Launch Damen FCS 2008
Damen announced that Windwave Workboats will be the launching customer of the Twin Axe Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2008.The Twin Axe FCS 2008 is a smaller version of Damen’s successful FCS 2610 which launched in 2011 and has subsequently become the industry standard for the offshore wind market, given its capability of operating further offshore in rougher weather conditions, while ensuring safe and comfortable transfers for those on board.
Damen Opens JV Yard in Vietnam
On March 20, 2014, Vietnamese Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong, cut the ribbon for the latest addition to Damen Shipyard Group’s portfolio. Damen Song Cam is a new yard, and is one of the largest in the group and represents Damen’s first formal Joint Venture yard in Vietnam. Damen said Song Cam is considered state-of-the-art, bringing a western shipyard designed to meet European health, safety and environmental standards into a Vietnamese environment.
Scafi Expands Fleet with Italian Damen Tug
Damen is to construct a new ASD 3212 tug for Scafi, the Italian shipping group that includes a number of international towing companies. The contract cements their already strong business relationship that goes back 20 years and represents the first Damen ASD 3212 for Italian waters. CMM Takes Delivery of Damen PSV for Brazil
New supplier CMM Gravity to start on long-term contract with Petrobras. CMM has taken delivery of a Damen Platform Supply Vessel 3300. The 80-meter, 3,300t deadweight vessel CMM Gravity will be deployed in the Brazilian waters from June 2014 on a 4+4 year contract with Petrobras. For CMM (Compagnie Maritime Monégasque S.A.M.), the vessel will mark a further step in its ambitious plans to expand in the offshore space and expand its offering by developing its capabilities as an OSV operator.

Damen Pontoon Deliveries Ensure Stock Availability
Last Friday, April 4, a shipment that left China seven weeks ago carrying 13 new Damen Stan Pontoons and 10 other Damen vessels arrived in Rotterdam. The built-for-stock pontoons and vessels will uphold Damen’s ultra-short delivery times as demand rises - 170 deliveries in 2013. This has also led to Damen introducing newly designed barges and completing a number of custom pontoon and barge projects. Damen has sold 37 pontoons and barges in the last two years.
Mexican Navy Orders another Damen Patrol Boat
