Damen Develops Nozzle Spinning Method
Damen Marine Components (DMC) has developed a pioneering nozzle production method based on a single weld seam on the inner side of the nozzle. This makes the process much more efficient and environmentally friendly. The new Nozzle Spinning Machine can deliver nozzles up to 4.5 m at short notice. Based in Hardinxveld in the Netherlands and part of the Damen Shipyards Group, DMC has invested in new spinning machinery for its facility in Gdansk, Poland.

Damen Delivers First Argentinian-Owned Tug
First Argentinian-owned Damen ASD 2810 tug arrives in Buenos Aires. Argentinian towage and harbour company Remolcadores Unidos Argentinos (RUA) has just taken delivery of the ‘RUA Cap. Lucio R’, a Damen ASD 2810 tug. Although Damen’s tugs have operated in Argentina before, this vessel is the first time a Damen tug is owned by an Argentinian company. Established in 1967 and based in Buenos Aires, RUA has a seven-strong fleet of vessels with a smaller bollard pull than the ASD 2810 newbuild.
Damen to Deliver Modular Dock to Djibouti
Damen Shipyards awarded to build Modular Dock for the Port of Djibouti. Damen Shipyards will construct a Damen Modular Dock (DMD) 4020 for - and will be delivered to - Djibouti. Djibouti’s busy port is one of the most important gateways to the African continent and is strategically located at the confluence of the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. Besides maintenance of the Port Authorities’ own fleet, the dock will be used for repair and maintenance of port-calling vessels.

Damen Launches Fishery Inspection Vessel
Fishery Inspection Surveillance Vessel for Angola launched at Damen Shipyards Galati. Damen Shipyards Galati is building the Ngola Kiluange, a Fishery Inspection Surveillance Vessel (FISV) 6210, for the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries. Damen Set to Launch New PSV Series
Damen Shipyards will unveil its new Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) at EUROPORT 2011 and will launch a complete PSV range in the next few months. The PSV 3300 E3 is a dedicated supply vessel to transport supplies to oil and gas rigs and is specifically designed to perform safely in adverse weather conditions. The first two vessels will be built at the renowned Damen shipyard in Galati, Romania. Delivery is scheduled for early 2013.

Damen Shipyards have delivered the ASD tugs ‘Karloo’ and ‘Kalarka’ to Half Tide Marine Pty Ltd of Australia. The tugs were built to the highly successful ASD Tug 3111 design, which in common with most Damen vessels, has been the subject of constant research and improvement. Including ‘Karloo’ and ‘Kalarka’, Damen has delivered twenty tugs built to that design, which will now be replaced by the new ASD Tug 3212.
