EDT Offshore Takes Delivery of Damen Fast Crew Suppliers
EDT Offshore (Cyprus), an operations and management company for offshore support and dredging services, has taken delivery of a Damen Fast Crew Supplier 3507 and an FCS 5009: the EDT Leda and the EDT Nefeli. Both are built according to the Damen Sea Axe design, which reduces slamming up to 75 percent and increases crew comfort. The EDT Nefeli is outfitted withDP1, FiFi 1 and a luxury interior for a high level of passenger comfort during longer trips.
Damen Delivers ASD Tug to Intertug
Damen Shipyards has delivered the ASD 3213 ‘Tanok’ to Colombian tug operator Intertug S.A. Intertug operates the country’s most modern tug fleet in terms of horsepower and fleet age. The Damen ASD 3213 has a bollard pull of 86.5 t and 80 t astern and is one of the most powerful harbor tugs in the world. In addition, Intertug ordered an ASD 3212, which will be delivered from Damen Shipyards Galati (Romania) at the end of May, 2012.
Damen Shipyards Delivers Three Tugs to KOTUG
KOTUG will shortly be putting three Damen ASD 2810 tugs into operation. These tugs were ordered by Elizabeth Ltd. in Malta and are being chartered by KOTUG, both part of the Kooren Maritime Services Group (KMS). Two tugs are being used in the port of Rotterdam, and the third will see service in the port of Hamburg. It’s the first time that Damen Shipyards has built tugs for the KMS Group. Damen Shipyards and KOTUG have built up a good relationship over the years.
Damen Delivers Stan Tug 1205 to S. Walsh & Sons
The Damen Stan Tug 1205 ‘SWS Essex’ was delivered to the Walsh & Sons Head Office in Brentwood (UK) last week. First Damen Fast Crew Supplier Built in Ecuador
For the first time, a Damen Fast Crew Supplier 1605 will be built in Ecuador by Astilleros Navales Ecuatorianos (ASTINAVE) Shipyard. Damen is supplying the complete, prefabricated Shipbuilding Material Package Kit to ASTINAVE. The yard’s technical staff are responsible for the construction, together with Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC). The DTC concept enables customers to build Damen vessels of their choice locally, according to specific requirements.
Damen Develops Nozzle Spinning Method
Damen Marine Components (DMC) has developed a pioneering nozzle production method based on a single weld seam on the inner side of the nozzle. This makes the process much more efficient and environmentally friendly. The new Nozzle Spinning Machine can deliver nozzles up to 4.5 m at short notice. Based in Hardinxveld in the Netherlands and part of the Damen Shipyards Group, DMC has invested in new spinning machinery for its facility in Gdansk, Poland.

Damen Delivers First Argentinian-Owned Tug
First Argentinian-owned Damen ASD 2810 tug arrives in Buenos Aires. Argentinian towage and harbour company Remolcadores Unidos Argentinos (RUA) has just taken delivery of the ‘RUA Cap. Lucio R’, a Damen ASD 2810 tug. Although Damen’s tugs have operated in Argentina before, this vessel is the first time a Damen tug is owned by an Argentinian company. Established in 1967 and based in Buenos Aires, RUA has a seven-strong fleet of vessels with a smaller bollard pull than the ASD 2810 newbuild.

Fishery Inspection Surveillance Vessel for Angola launched at Damen Shipyards Galati. Damen Shipyards Galati is building the Ngola Kiluange, a Fishery Inspection Surveillance Vessel (FISV) 6210, for the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries. Damen Shipyards will soon deliver three tugboats to INEA (Instituto Nacional de los Espacios Acuaticos, the Venezuelan Aquatic Authority). World Wide Supply orders four Platform Supply Vessels of Damen Shipyards’ new PSV 3300 series. Newly founded offshore support company World Wide Supply (WWS) has ordered four PSV 3300 CD’s with Damen Shipyards.
