Damen Delivers First of New Tug Class

Damen Shipyards Group has delivered the first vessel in its new ASD Tug 2913 class. According to Damen, the 2913 has been developed in response to demand from operators for more powerful tugs capable of handling today’s larger vessels. As well as having a bollard pull of 80 metric tons and total power of 5,050 BKw, the new tug is 29 meters in length and highly maneuverable, making it suited for operations in busy harbors where space is limited.

CORIMA Orders a Damen ASD Tug 2810

CORIMA, part of the Italian Gesmar Group, has ordered a Damen ASD Tug 2810. The Damen ASD Tug 2810, which has a 60 metric tons bollard pull, will be deployed in the port of Ancona. With the official signing ceremony taking place on January 12, the new tug is due to be delivered at the end of the year. Two Damen Patrol Vessels Built in Cape Town

Damen Shipyards Cape Town (DSCT) has completed the build of two FCS 5009 Patrol vessels, the first of their type to be built in South Africa. Another of the same class is already in operation with the Cape Verdean Coast Guard. “This continues our policy of building in Africa for Africa,” said Friso Visser, Sales Manager Africa for Damen, “and it makes us very proud to see our South African facility maintaining the Damen tradition of building technically advanced vessels to the highest standards.
Damen Delivers Pontoon to Kristiansund Taubåtservice

Kristiansund Taubåtservice has taken delivery of a Damen Stan Pontoon 4113. At 41 meters in length and 13 meters across, the Stan Pontoon joins the company’s existing fleet of three barges. The 4113 was delivered from stock available in Rotterdam. It was built in China and delivered as part of one of Damen’s regular shipments of pontoons of various sizes to Rotterdam. From there they are available at short notice for clients in Europe, Africa and America.
Damen Cutter Suction Dredger and Stan Tug for Nigeria

Damen reports two more vessels have been sold to a long term Nigerian customer. A tug, type STU2208, and a cutter suction dredger, type CSD500, have arrived at their up-river operating point where they will assist at an inlands port in keeping the river navigable. The Nigerian customer has well chosen the vessels names : “PASAM” for the tug meaning “Daddy Sam”, and “DASERAH” for the CSD500 meaning “Mummy Sarah”. Both vessels will be working alongside a CSD500 delivered by Damen previously.
Damen Wraps Another Cruise Repair Project

The Saga Cruises-owned Saga Sapphire left Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam December 19 after receiving repair and refurbishment works as well as a scheduled Class Survey. The 199.63-meter vessel is now back in action, picking up passengers from Dover before heading for the Canary Islands. This latest contract signifies a period of back-to-back cruise ship repair projects that also includes work carried out on a 300-meter vessel that left the yard last month.

The Nicaraguan port authority Empresa Portuaria Nacional (EPN) is set to take delivery of two newbuilds from Damen Shipyards Group. Damen built both vessels, a Damen Stan Tug 2608 and a Cutter Suction Dredger CSD350, at its yards in the Netherlands, and they are completed and underway. Damen Sales Manager Pieter Becker signed the contract for the Stan Tug 2608 on September 2, 2014 during a maritime trade mission to Nicaragua organized by the Netherlands Council for Trade.
