DNV GL to Class LNG Helgoland Ferry
The new Fassmer built Helgoland ferry for AG EMS, will be constructed under the supervision of classification society DNV GL. The nearly 80m long vessel will be the first German flagged newbuilding to be equipped with an propulsion system designed to operate primarily with liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a fuel. Using LNG as fuel allows the vessel to make significant cuts to its emissions to the air, bringing it into compliance with incoming regulations to protect the environment.

Bourbon and CGG: Partners in Innovation
In 2011, Bourbon entered a five-year charter agreement with CGG for a series of six new seismic support vessels, an industry first. Two years later, the Bourbon Petrel and the Bourbon Fulmar are already in service in the Black Sea and Northern Europe, and a third vessel, the Bourbon Gannet, will also be operational in the near future. The Grandweld Shipyard in Dubai is building the vessels and delivery of the remaining sister ships is scheduled for 2014.
Container Reliability Declines for Third Consecutive Quarter
Drewry’s Carrier Performance Insight report, just published, revealed a disappointing drop in performance for both ship-level and container-level reliability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the third quarter. Containership reliability dipped below 70% for the first time since the beginning of 2012 as weaker performances in the Asia trades to and from Europe and the Middle East/Indian Subcontinent contributed to a quarter-on-quarter decline of 1.4 percentage points to 69.5%.

Maersk Supply Ships Q3 2013 Profits Soar
Maersk Supply, a subsidiary of the A. P. Moller-Maersk group, came out of the third quarter of 2013 with a profit of US$76-million, against a profit of US$ 48-million in the same quarter in 2012. Revenue rose from US$ 226-million in the period of 2012 to US$ 240 million. The profit for the third quarter of 2013 improved compared to the same period last year primarily due to higher utilization and lower operating costs.
