CaroTrans Adds Direct New York-St. Petersburg Service

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

November 20, 2013

CaroTrans, a leading global NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carrier) and ocean freight consolidator, announced a direct, all-water LCL service from New York to St. Petersburg, Russia. This fortnightly service will commence on November 23 and has a 21 day transit. Russia is a major global trade growth market with over 140 million consumers, many in an expanding middle class, making it an important U.S. export location.

When shipping to St. Petersburg, the largest container port in Russia, exporters eliminate transshipment hub delays and the associated costs. CaroTrans’ team on the ground in St. Petersburg provides reliable, secure support and facilitates timely cargo availability, and the company’s U.S.-based Russia Trade Manager is positioned to coordinate dependable cargo moves. Bonded and customs cleared on-carriage to Moscow and any warehouse or store door in Russia is available from CaroTrans.

“We’ve developed our service network in this significant growth region, Central Europe, the Baltics and Russia over the past several years to provide expedited, direct transportation solutions for our valued customers. This new service features reliable transits and a transparent rate structure. Early 2014, we plan to increase the N.Y. to St. Petersburg service frequency to weekly,” said Greg Howard, Global CEO of CaroTrans.

Russia’s entrance into the WTO (World Trade Organization) in 2012 brought greater confidence and stability to businesses and trading partners, as well as strengthened their place in the global economy. May 2013, CaroTrans announced its entrance into the Baltic, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and Russia markets with a weekly LCL and FCL export service from New York. Currently, this service calls the Port of Riga in Latvia. This service represents CaroTrans’ first step in their development and investment in this growing trade area.

In North America, CaroTrans has a local network of 14 branch offices and 24 CFS (container freight stations) strategically placed to deliver reliable and secure export cargo moves to Russia.
