A naming ceremony was held for Atlantic Energy, the newest addition to marine lubricant provider Total Lubmarine’s fleet. The ceremony for the the newly-built vessel took place on November 18 at Posttrans B.V in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Atlantic Energy is a 1,560 dwt, double-hulled barge. She features a 35-meter bunker boom, allowing delivery to the largest container ships in the world calling at Rotterdam port and Europoort.

The U.S. Navy awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat two contract modifications worth a total value of $16.8 million to perform nuclear and nonnuclear maintenance work for submarines homeported at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton. Electric Boat is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics. MacGregor Receives Huge Order from Hyundai Heavy
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received an order worth $77 million (USD) for optimized cargo handling systems for five A-14-series and five A-18-series container vessels from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in South Korea. The 14,000 TEU and 18,000 TEU ships are built for the United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) and they are scheduled for delivery between 2014 and 2015. Gulf of Mexico liftboat operators All Coast, LLC, have entered into a contract with SEMCO, LLC, for the refurbishment and enhancement of its L/B 'Barracuda', which was previously out of service. Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw has taken on board more than 1,300 Christmas trees in preparation for the annual transit to Chicago where the trees will be given to nonprofit organizations, pre-determined by the Chicago maritime community, and then to needy families. The Mackinaw, which has served as the Christmas Ship since 2000, reenacting a tradition dating back to the late 1890s, makes the annual trip in conjunction with annual fall buoy retrieval operations.
Washington State Ferries a Step Closer to LNG Propulsion
Washington State Ferries say they are another step closer to significantly reducing fuel costs and transportation emissions by switching a class of vessels from diesel fuel to liquefied natural gas. After more than three years of study, WSF has a plan to safely convert six Issaquah Class vessels to run on cleaner-burning LNG. The proposal has been officially submitted to the U.S. Coast Guard in a formal letter of intent (LOI) and waterways suitability assessment (WSA).

Oceanteam Shipping ASA (OTS) confirm the extension of the bareboat charter of their 'CSV Southern Ocean' by Fugro TS Marine Australia until the end of 2018. CSV Southern Ocean is a large construction support vessel jointly owned between Bourbon Offshore Norway AS and Oceanteam Shipping ASA. The owners say that the extension of the bareboat charter will further strenghten their contract backlog and secure future earnings. The original charter was set to expire at the end of 2015.
