FleetWeather: Shipping Business Intelligence Solution

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

November 20, 2013

FleetWeather Ocean Services, Inc. introduced a business intelligence solution for the global commercial shipping and maritime industry. FleetWeather's new services provide insight, intelligence and innovation for global shipping leaders, helping them manage change, opportunities and complex decisions resulting in increased profits and significantly reduced costs.

FleetWeather said it recognized that business intelligence tools, analytic services and big data concepts, common in most industries today and especially in the worldwide financial markets, were not available to global shipping leaders. Working closely with its clients over the past several years, FleetWeather has engineered and developed innovative, industry-unique, ultra-customized performance and analytic services designed specifically for shipping companies of all sizes and types. FleetWeather's services combine leading edge technology with a team of analysts and industry experts responsible for managing and overseeing their client's solutions from end-to-end on a daily basis. Our team of analysts can absorb and manage the entire back office data operations for a shipping client while also providing leadership, guidance and consulting services to help enhance their decision making process.

FleetWeather's dynamic services are designed to help clients understand, strategize and act upon opportunities brought on by market changes, relationship changes, or a shift in business model or strategy. Our solutions provide strategic decision support and business intelligence for shipping leaders by delivering accurate and timely information to help overcome daily complex business and operational decisions. This helps our clients to be more successful today and into the future, no matter what challenges they face.

"FleetWeather has worked hard over the past several years, taking on a big vision and some big challenges, to design a service that helps global shipping leaders make better decisions and do it more often," said Jess Hurwitz, FleetWeather's Director of Sales and Marketing and CTO. "It's been exciting to witness great shipping companies get even better, even in poor market and economic conditions, as they engage in new and expanded ways to make decisions with our assistance and guidance."

"Engaging FleetWeather permits our clients to be liberated from data-oriented tasks helping them to clear their minds and be able to focus their entire efforts on managing their business," said Trevor Bevens, FleetWeather's Director of Marine Operations. "Once these burdens are removed and assumed by FleetWeather, most clients start to discover things about their business and operations that they never realized before."

While most vendors in our market space have shifted mostly to automation and providing stand-alone software offerings, FleetWeather continues to focus on delivering solutions with a mix of technology and analysts while maintaining a high emphasis on quality service, customized offerings and client successes.

FleetWeather offers a wide range of services, all of which can be fully customized to meet the exact and changing needs of their clients. All services rely on three core components in the FleetWeather delivery process:

Front-End Presentation Portal – A matrix of multimedia and multidimensional client customized deliverables, reports and tools. This front-end delivery, reporting and presentation vehicle allows for FleetWeather to provide a single client with options for different reports and information to be delivered to multiple people at varying times across different media.

Conduit of Information – Linking our back-end data array and front-end client deliverables, this information conduit is fully managed and monitored by FleetWeather's team of analysts partnered with optional third party managers, resources and technical experts. Client information on the conduit is expertly filtered, analyzed and interpreted based on the client's individual reporting needs. As a client's needs change, so can the mix of expertise and talent that manages and oversees their data on the conduit.

Back-End Data Array – Our data array serves as the collection place for individual client data from various information sources, data collection points and partner data exchange services. All information collected by FleetWeather is verified for accuracy prior to being archived in our database and being available on the conduit of information to our team of analysts. Data sources can be customized based on a client's needs with information being able to flow in or out of the data array for shared services and workflow intervention.

FleetWeather said it intends to partner with other shipping industry innovators that will share and exchange information with FleetWeather to provide a wide range of standard and advanced services and partner options for our clients. Our solutions will be comprised of the top service providers in the industry providing our clients with the ability to enhance their services quickly and easily without having to worry about the integration process. In some circumstances even other weather routing services, which FleetWeather used to compete with, may be potential partners and data sources based on a client's unique needs, existing relationships and prior commitments.
