The modification of two Maersk shipping routes to pass through the Suez Canal rather than Panama is temporary, says a Maersk spokesman. The diversion from the Panama Canal to an alternate route has contributed to a decline in revenue for the canal administration, The Maersk Line, has used the waterway for over 90 years to transport goods to different continents, reports 'Newsroom Panama'. Relais Nordik conduct the christening of new multi-purpose ferry 'Bella Desgagnés' for service at Anticosti Island & the Lower North Shore. Julie Boulet , MNA of Laviolette and former Minister of Transport of the Government of Quebec, was the godmother and ceremonially named the ship. The Bella Desgagnés, 97.1 meters long and 19.35 meters in beam, has operational and maximum drafts of 4.2 m and 4.6 m respectively. She can comfortably accommodate 381 passengers with her aircraft-type seats.
Thai Speedboats Collide: 18 Injured
18 South Korean tourists were injured, two critically, when two speedboats ferrying them to Pattaya's Koh Larn collided. The crash took place about 800 metres offshore from Koh Larn's Tawaen beach and 10 injured tourists were sent to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital and 8 to Pattaya Memorial Hospital reports the 'Bangkok Post'. The two most seriously injured were identified as 51-year-old Myung Be Kim, whose legs were nearly severed, and 63-year-old Gihwa Song, whose leg was torn off.
