Wärtsilä to Provide Turnkey LNG Receiving Terminal in N. Finland
Wärtsilä says it has signed a turnkey contract to supply a liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal to be built in Tornio, northern Finland. The contract, valued at approximately EUR 100 million, has been made with Manga LNG Oy, a joint venture between the Finnish companies Outokumpu Group, Ruukki Metals Oy, Gasum Oy and EPV Energy Ltd. The contract is conditional on receipt of investment support and Manga LNG Oy's contracts with other parties, including the gas suppliers.

The captain of the offshore supply vessel 'Miss Aubrey Ann', 5 miles off Louisiana, contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston, reporting that a 27-year-old crew-member severed his foot after getting it caught in a line. An Air Station Houston aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter responded and medevaced the man to the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, in stable condition.

Norway-based TGS, report record high late sales in the fourth quarter of 2013, and inform of four new multi-client surveys: a 3D survey in offshore Northwest Australia, two 2D surveys offshore Madagascar and a 3D survey onshore Alberta, Canada. Based on preliminary reporting from operating units, TGS management expects net revenues for the fourth quarter of 2013 to be approximately USD 270 million, bringing total estimated net revenues for 2013 to approximately USD 882 million.
China Shipyard Delivers Another Supramax Bulk Carrier
COSCO Corporation (Singapore) Limited says its COSCO Dalian shipyard has delivered the 57,000 dwt bulk ship 'Guotou' to its Asian buyer. The new bulk carrier measures 189.99 meters in LOA, 32.26 meters in breadth and 18 meters in depth. Founded in June 2001, COSCO Shipyard Group Co., Ltd, is a subsidiary of China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO), specializing in large vessel construction, marine engineering, construction and conversion, as well as ship repairing services.
Aker Completes Well-intervention Services Business Sale
Aker Solutions says it has completed the sale of its well-intervention services business area to EQT, a Swedish private equity fund. The unit was sold for an enterprise value of NOK 4 billion and the agreement includes an earn-out provision where Aker Solutions will receive 25 percent of any internal rate of return exceeding 12 percent a year on EQT's equity investment. Aker explain that the business provides services that optimise flows from oil reservoirs.
Coast Guard Breaks Thick Delaware River Ice
The crews of the Coast Guard Cutters 'Capstan' and 'Cleat' are breaking ice to maintain navigable waterways, encountering significant ice on the Delaware River, up to five feet thick about three miles south of Trenton, N.J. "The crews aboard the Coast Guard Cutters Cleat and Capstan are working diligently to prevent navigational impacts resulting from ice formation," said Lt. Veronica Smith, chief of waterways managment division at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia.

USCG Warns of Tank Sampling Dangers
This Safety Alert serves as a reminder to Coast Guard (CG) personnel and the maritime community of potential dangers during sampling of cargo tanks. During a recent Port State Control (PSC) tank vessel examination, a CG member was exposed to a dangerous concentration of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) gas and suffered a serious injury. The exposure occurred during a tank vessel exam onboard a tank vessel carrying Grade E Sour Crude.
