The captain of the offshore supply vessel 'Miss Aubrey Ann', 5 miles off Louisiana, contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston, reporting that a 27-year-old  crew-member severed his foot after getting it caught in a line.

An Air Station Houston aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter responded and medevaced the man to the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, in stable condition.

"Rescues like this are the bread and butter of operations of the Coast Guard, and this case is a great example of a coordinated Coast Guard response," said Lt. Spencer Roach, the command duty officer at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston. “The early and immediate call to the Coast Guard when the injury occurred was critical to saving this man’s life. When dealing with severe injuries at sea, seconds count.”
