Damen to Convert Dredger to Dual-fuel LNG/MGO

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion has been awarded a contract to undertake the conversion of a dredger to dual-fuel capability combining LNG and MGO – a first of its kind project in Europe. The contract was awarded by Rouen-based GIE Dragages-Ports with regard to its 117m, 8500m³ trailing suction hopper dredger Samuel de Champlain, and the works will take place next year at Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque.

Damen Delivers Dredger in Finland

Damen has delivered a Cutter Suction Dredger 450 to Vesirakennus Ojanen Oy in Finland. This is the first time a Damen Cutter Suction Dredger has been deployed in the Scandinavian market. The new dredger was delivered in only a few weeks from stock and has been put to work straight away in the Port of Pori, where it is dredging at a depth of 4.5 meters. ISA Towage Names New Damen Workboat

ISA Towage BV’s new workboat ISA was officially named at a November 17 ceremony at Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld (DSHa). ISA's godmother was Miranda Mastenbroek, wife of Willem-Harm Mastenbroek, owner and managing director of ISA Towage B.V. The new vessel, a Damen Shoalbuster 3209, is the second purchased by ISA Towage B.V. A smaller vessel, a Shoalbuster 2709 also called ISA, was delivered at the close of 2016, and has now been replaced by the 3209.

Foss Inks Deal to Build Damen Tugs

Foss Maritime and Netherlands-based Damen Shipyards have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to produce and market the Damen ASD 2813 tug. Damen Signs Contract with Multraship

At the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam, Multraship and Damen signed a contract for the build and delivery of two Damen Stan Launch 804s. The new launches will be operated by Multraship subsidiaries Montis Mooring Boatservice BV and Verenigde Bootlieden BV. Verenigde Bootlieden BV and Montis Mooring Boatservice BV provide boatmen and other specialist marine services in the port of Terneuzen, the Netherlands.
Damen Inks Deal for Three Ferries

At the Europort 2017 exhibition in Rotterdam, Damen Shipyards Group and Belgian ferry operator Aqualiner signed a contract for the delivery of three more Damen Waterbus 2407 vessels, for operations on the Scheldt in Antwerp. At the signing were Gerbrand Schutten (CEO Aqualiner), Maurice Swets (CEO Aqualiner), Dimitri Romijn (CFO Aqualiner), Arnout Damen (CCO Damen) and Jelle Meindertsma (Sales Manager Damen).
Damen Contracts Taylor Bros for Icebreaker Barges

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) has selected Taylor Bros of Tasmania to supply two high powered Antarctic landing barges for Australia’s new icebreaker, the RSV Nuyina. Damen is building the vessel at its yard, Damen Shipyards Galati, in Romania for the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD). The vessel will be operated by DMS Maritime, a wholly owned subsidiary of Serco, and is an integral part of the AAD’s research program in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.

Fine weather after a stormy morning and a wide range of vessels to view and try out on the water encouraged a good turnout of clients, industry partners and media at Damen’s second annual Workboat Festival. Damen to Open Novorossiysk Service Hub

Damen Shipyards Group said it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Delo Group of companies, establishing plans to open a service hub in the Russian port of Novorossiysk. According to Damen, the new hub will aim to optimize the services provided to the growing number of Damen vessels operating in the region in addition to strengthening its relationship with the Delo Group. The LOI was signed by representatives from the two companies during the NEVA 2017 trade fair in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Damen Delivers Stock Workboat to ISA Towage

The vessel was already in stock at the yard and was handed over to the client within four weeks of the order being agreed. Damen Launches Electrically-driven Dredge Pump

Damen Dredging Equipment has unveiled its new electrically-driven E-DOP pump, every bit as capable as its hydraulic predecessor first introduced to the dredging industry 25 years ago. The new, electrical DOP pump offers added versatility to be more applicable to even more projects. Damen Begins New Tug Build for Saqr Ports

A keel-laying ceremony was held on August 28 at Damen Shipyards Sharjah for a new ASD Tug 2913 for Saqr Ports, part of Rash Al Khaimah (RAK) Ports. Damen will deliver the vessel to RAK Ports next year, in time for the opening of a new bulk terminal at Saqr Port, the main bulk-handling port in the Middle East. RAK Ports required a tug that was both compact and powerful, in order to handle the large carriers that will call at the port.

The Council of the Confederation of European Maritime Technology Societies presented Damen CEO René Berkvens with the CEMT Award on Thursday, August 24, at Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. The Council bestows the award annually in recognition of the substantial contribution made to the success of the European maritime industry by an individual, company or organization. Damen Stan Pontoons to Support London’s ‘Super Sewer’ Construction

The Ferrovial Agroman Laing O'Rourke joint venture (FLO) has taken delivery of two Damen Stan Pontoons. FLO will deploy the vessels – a SPo 7120 and a SPo 4113 – for marine infrastructure construction duties on the Thames Tideway Tunnel project in London. Great Lakes Shipyard Builds First Damen Stan Tug

The first of 10 Stan Tug 1907 ICE vessels has been delivered by Great Lakes Shipyard to its sister company The Great Lakes Towing Company, both based in Ohio, U.S. Named Cleveland, the vessel marks a milestone in a licencing program agreed between Damen Shipyards Group and Great Lakes Shipyard following discussions that began in 2014.
