Sailors from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25 conducted a search and rescue operation and rescued 10 fishermen from a sinking commercial fishing vessel that ran aground in Apra Harbor near Spanish Steps, Guam. Subsequently Navy personnel removed environmentally hazardous materials from the wreck. Qatari Shipyard Delivers Tugboat in Large Milaha Contract

Qatari shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) say they have delivered to Milaha the 32m-long tug 'Semesma', the eleventh vessel built in the State of Qatar by NDSQ to be utilized by Milaha at the Port of Mesaieed. ASD tug Semesma has a bollard pull of 80 tons and will be used for escorting vessels visiting the Port of Mesaieed. The tug is 32m long with a beam of 13m and has been equipped for offshore towing, firefighting and pollution control.

Two new specialised livestock carriers have been named 'Gelbray Express' & 'Girolando Express' in a ceremony at the COSCO shipyard in Guangdong, China. Vroon inform that the godmothers are Ms Sophie Wang, Managing Director Landmark Global Exports Pty Ltd., who christened Gelbray Express, and Ms Marie Janet Blankers, wife of Mr Paul Pistorius, Head Operations at Vroon, who christened Girolando Express.

Louisiana LNG Project Gets Important Non-FTA Export Approval

Cameron LNG, one of the most advanced US LNG export projects, (promoted by GDF SUEZ as a shareholder and a capacity holder), has been granted conditional non-Free Trade Agreement (FTA) approval from the US Department of Energy (DOE). The Non-FTA agreement will enable GDF SUEZ to export LNG from the Cameron LNG project, in Louisiana, into countries that have not signed a FTA with the USA. GDF Suez inform that the project received FTA approval in January 2012.

A cruise ship passenger has died and another was airlifted to hospital after the 22,000-tonne cruise ship 'Marco Polo' was hit by a freak wave in the English Channel during the recent storm. Liebherr Africa announced the awarding of a contract for the supply of four STS and 18 RTG cranes to Transnet Port Terminals. The order will be fulfilled with the assistance of Liebherr Container Cranes in Ireland. In the last two years, Liebherr delivered nine mobile harbor cranes to Transnet, which brought their fleet to 13.
