Floating Production Market Forecast

Today, 319 oil/gas floating production units are now in service, on order or available for reuse on another field. FPSOs account for 65% of the existing systems, 74% of systems on order. Another 25 floating LNG processing systems are in service or on order. Liquefaction floaters account for 12%, regasification floaters 88%. No liquefaction floaters are yet in service – all three are on order. In addition, 101 floating storage units are in service, on order or available.

Delta SubSea LLC (DSS) signed a long term charter on DP II IMR Support vessel VOS Sympathy for international scopes of work. DSS mobilized two FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics HD 150 HP systems, complete tooling, and full survey suite provided by UTEC Survey. VOS Sympathy will be based out of Trinidad & Tobago and will operate as an ROV platform and light construction vessel for two projects, supporting the operations of a pipe layer.

The Mayport-based frigate USS Taylor (FFG 50) is being inspected for damage after running aground Feb. 12. The incident occurred as Taylor was preparing to moor in Samsun, Turkey. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announced the delivery of the Akatsuki, the first 104,000 DWT class Post-Panamax coal carrier, which was jointly developed with Sanoyas Shipbuilding Corporation and built at the Sanoyas Shipbuilding Mizushima Shipyard. This new ship type was designed to optimize the transport of coal for power companies in Japan. MOL plans to add these advanced, efficient vessels to its fleet in succession.
