RS Will Participate in IMDS 2013
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) will for the first time participate in the International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS 2013) to take place in St Petersburg from July 3-7, 2013.
Incat to Build 12 UT4000 Fast Supply Vessels
The Brazilian petroleum industry continues to set new standard for fleet expansion. This is demonstrated by the building of 12 aluminum 7,200-hp fast supply vessels to a single order. They are being built at Estilaleiro ETP Engenharia Ltda. in Rio de Janeiro for two owners. Designed by Incat Crowther with their Lafayette, Louisiana office, the construction of these vessels is now well along with the first delivery expected for late 2013 with others to follow through 2014 and 2015.
Wärtsilä, CEVA Receive Lean & Green Star Award
Wärtsilä and CEVA Logistics were recognized for their successful efforts to reduce CO2 emissions by 60% at Wärtsilä's warehousing operations. The two companies have been named as winners of the Lean & Green Star Award 2013, a program aimed at encouraging businesses and government bodies to move to a higher level of sustainability by taking measures that not only yield cost savings, but at the same time reduce the burden on the environment.
EBDG Seattle Continues Staff Growth
Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) welcomed two new additions to its Seattle team: Engineer Kurt Jankowski and Designer Justin Jones. Kurt Jankowski comes to EBDG with broad education in naval architecture and marine engineering in addition to experience in boat and ship construction. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a BSE in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and earned his MSE in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in April 2013.

MV Rickmers Chennai Christened
One of the multi-purpose ships operating on Rickmers’ service between Europe and the Middle East/India has been christened Rickmers Chennai. The former Pacific Winter was renamed in a ceremony in Hamburg yesterday, by Dr Christine Winter, daughter of owner Heino Winter, acting as sponsor of the vessel. The 19,100-dwt Rickmers Chennai has been on long-term charter from Reederei Heino Winter since April.

UK Aircraft Carrier's Second Island Module Placed
The aft island of the double island 'HMS Queen Elizabeth' has been lowered into place by Aircraft Carrier Alliance workers at Rosyth Dockyard in Fife.
