Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering firm, Jensen Maritime, announce delivery of the 'Hawaii', the first of two 120’ x 35’ x 19’ Jensen-designed ABS machinery class ocean-going tugboats, to Hyak Maritime, a marine equipment and vessel owner based in Dover, Delaware. The Hawaii was built by JT Marine of Vancouver, Wash. Hyak’s second tug, the Washington, is scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2013.

MOL/MES Sailing Rig Tested Onshore
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has begun an onshore demonstration test of a new prototype sailing rig that they believe has great potential for reducing vessel CO2 emissions. MOL/ Akishima Laboratories (Mitsui Zosen) tests of the "Power Assist Sail" were started at the Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) Oita Works in June 2013. The joint study of the Power Assist Sail, has produced the prototype for the demonstration test, which is large enough to use on an actual vessel.

Saipem Jack-up Rig Collapses Offshore Congo
One of the 3 legs of the jack-up drilling rig 'Perro Negro 6' collapsed and the rig capsized to subsequently sink near the mouth of the Congo River. The accident occurred during rig positioning on location prior to starting drilling operations, between the coasts of Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo, in approximately 40 metres of water. After significant tilting of the rig when the support leg collapsed, the 103 crew members were taken off.
Boskalis Wins Dutch 'Room for the River' Contract
Royal Boskalis Westminster has been awarded a contract by the Vallei en Veluwe district water board for the construction of the Veessen-Wapenveld high-water channel in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands.
