UK Shipyard Wins Long-term Dredger Drydock Contract
A&P Tees, part of A&P North East, has won an exclusive contract from UK dredge contractor CEMEX UK Marine, part of the CEMEX UK Group, for the drydocking of the company’s three trailing suction hopper dredgers over a five-year period. CICT Sri Lanka Container Terminal Opens
China Merchant Holdings International (CMHI) subsidiary Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) put the new terminal into trial operation mode with the arrival of the first ship to dock there, the 'M/V Coromandel'. CMHI owns an 85% interest in CICT, there will be altogether 4 berths and a quay length of 1200 meters, with a designed handling capacity of 2.4 million TEU, the first phase project covers 400 meters quay length.

In addition to these three craft, the salvage company requested fire-fighting assistance from the Indian Coast Guard, and their patrol boat "SAMUDRA PRAHARI" with an external fire fighting system, arrived at the scene around 0030 UTC on July 8, and started fire fighting with the others immediately.

15 Crew members of the Malaysian-flagged MV Albedo remain unaccounted for after the vessel sank in an anhorage close to the Somali coast. MV Albedo has been in pirate hands since it was attacked in the Indian Ocean in November 2010, and was in pirate hands when it sank. An EU Naval Force warship and Maritime Patrol Aircraft have closed the sea area and are continuing to carry out a Search and Rescue operation to search for any survivors.
