TNPA South Africa Orders From Damen Shipyards
The Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) in South Africa has ordered a Pilot Cutter 2706 and its fifth Stan Tug 2006 with Damen Shipyards Cape Town for operations in the expanding Port of Saldanha (South Africa). Both vessels have been specifically designed for the South African market. The Pilot Cutter 2706 will be delivered in May 2013 and the tug in March 2013. TNPA already operates four Damen Stan Tugs in South Africa. The STu 2006 is an enlarged design, based on the STu 1906.
Scituate Boat Works Opens Marine Services Building and Shipâs Store
Scituate Boat Works (SBW) recently completed the construction of a marine services building and Shipâs Store at the Scituate (Massachusetts) Town Marina. The new facility is the latest step in the process of revitalizing the town-owned marina to improve services to recreational boaters and the areaâs commercial fishing fleet. The inner harbor where SBW is located has been dredged and is now a marked channel to the marina.
Kvichak delivers 50â Crescent River Port Pilot Vessel
Kvichak Marine Industries, of Seattle, WA, has recently delivered the M/V Samuel A. Church, a 50â x 15.5â pilot vessel to the Crescent River Port Pilots (CRPPA) of Louisiana. A christening ceremony was held last week at the Southern Yacht Club of New Orleans before the vessel was delivered to its homeport in Pilottown, LA. The Crescent River Port Pilots operate on the Mississippi River between Pilottown and New Orleans.

The abandoned and derelict fishing vessel Deep Sea, while at anchor in Penn Cove, WA, caught fire and sank in 60 feet of water. Japanese Tsunami Pontoon Beached in Oregon
EPA/Oregon Parks and Recreation Department informs AFP that the Japanese consulate has confirmed the large dock, which measures 7 feet tall (2.1 meters) by 66 feet long (20.1 meters) by 19 feet wide (5.8 meters), is debris from the March 2011 tsunami. A commemorative plaque on the dock showed it was one of four owned by Aomori Prefecture that broke loose from the port of Misawa on the north.
