Wärtsilä TMH Diesel Engine Company LLC, a joint venture owned 50/50 by Wärtsilä and Transmashholding (TMH), is ready to start construction of a modern factory located in Penza, Russia. The new plant, which is expected to be ready to start production in summer 2013, will provide world-class assembly and manufacturing facilities. Wärtsilä and Transmashholding signed the joint venture agreement in May 2010.

The tanker is a third generation, fuel-efficient Suezmax and will be employed in the open market via the Stena Sonangol Suezmax Pool. She is expected to be delivered shortly, the fifth in a series of seven units, each representing an investment of just under SEK 500 million, designed by Stena Bulk and ordered in March 2010. Together with Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), Stena Teknik has been responsible for the development of the new ship model, where the focus has been on energy efficiency.

Troll A Tie In Success for Pipeline Specialist STATS Group
Specialist engineering company, STATS Group, has completed an 18 month design, manufacturing and installation project to enable the tie-in of a fifth pipeline on Statoil’s Troll A Platform. Statoil’s Troll A platform, located off the west coast of Norway, utilises a system of seal tubes to tie-in risers which are run down the inside of a dry concrete leg. The seal tubes were concreted in place at the base of the riser leg on the gravity base structure in 1991.

Transas TX-97 non-official chart collection now includes Ukrainian chart folios. The agreement was signed between Transas Marine Ltd and the State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine in May 2012 allowing Transas to use official ENC’s and Inland ENC’s to create TX-97 folios. New charts will be available for the users of Transas ECDIS and ECS. The uniqueness of this project is that it is the first time when Inland ENC’s were used to produce TX-97 folios.

Imtech Marine announces that Elkon (Istanbul), member of Imtech Marine , signed a contract for the design and supply of the complete electrical systems to power three Turkish Navy Auxiliary vessels. The vessels, consisting of one Submarine Rescue Mother Ship (MoShip) and two Rescue and Towing Ships (RATships) will be built by Istanbul Shipyard in Tuzla Turkey and are scheduled to be delivered to the Turkish Navy by mid of 2015.
Vigor Marine Completes Work on the Kulluk and Noble Discoverer
The Kulluk and Noble Discoverer set sail for the Arctic today from Vigor Industrial’s Seattle shipyard, following completion of extensive environmental and safety upgrades by its commercial ship repair subsidiary, Vigor Marine. The Kulluk, an ice-classed semi-submersible drill rig measuring 266’ x 230’, arrived at Vigor’s Seattle yard in July, 2011. Following the work done by Vigor Marine teams, it will operate with zero discharge in the Beaufort and Chuckchi Seas.

Konecranes Get Kvaerner Goliath Crane Order
The Goliath gantry crane will be in operation at Kvaerner’s facilities at Stord on November 2013. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order. The ordered Goliath gantry crane will more than double the lifting capacity, from 350 to 800 tons. The span will be 153 meters and the height 115 meters. With the new Goliath crane Kvaerner will be able to conduct two topside projects in parallel, compared to one earlier.
