Battleship 'Texas' Flooding
The historic ship, which just turned 100 years old in May, is only one of six remaining that served in both World War I and World War II. 'KHOU Houston' informs that the ship manager said crews noticed the unusual amount of water coming on board sometime on Saturday. Since then, workers have been at it day and night just trying to keep up. A number of pumps have been brought to the site as the water is being directed back out into the channel.

Great Lakes Limestone Moving More Briskly
Another Good Month for Lakes Limestone; Up 16 Percent in May. Shipments of limestone on the Great Lakes totaled 3,355,389 net tons in May, an increase of 30 percent compared to April and 15.6 percent better than a year ago. However, shipments were down 9.3 percent compared to the month’s 5-year average. The strongest gains came at U.S. ports. Loadings rose by 380,000 tons, or 16.2 percent. Shipments from Canadian quarries increased by 73,000 tons, or 13.2 percent.

Fairmount Marine’s multipurpose support vessel Fairmount Fuji has assisted drill ship Stena Icemax while making a stop-over at Cape Town. On request of the owner of Stena Icemax the Fairmount Fuji carried out several cargo runs from the port of Cape Town to the anchorage. Stena Icemax was under way from the Far East to French Guiana and required to make a stop-over at Cape Town for crew change and replenishment.
