Rescue Ship Idar Ulstein Named in Norway
The search and rescue boat Idar Ulstein was named in Ulsteinvik today, becoming the latest newbuild to join the fleet of the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue. RS Idar Ulstein is also the first vessel in the new Ulstein class, named after ULSTEINās long-time CEO. The new vessel Idar Ulstein was named by lady sponsor Gunvor Ulstein in a ceremony in Ulsteinvik. The 22-meter rescue vessel employs powerful twin engines and a water jet to achieve large bollard pull and reach top speeds near 40 knots.
ACL Acquires AEP River Operations
Marine transportation service company American Commercial Lines (ACL) announced it has acquired commercial inland barge company AEP River Operations from American Electric Power (AEP). AEP River Operations is based in Chesterfield, Mo., with operations in Paducah, Ky.; and Convent, Algiers and Belle Chasse, La., and delivers approximately 45 million tons of products annually. Salvors Find Bridge of Sunken El Faro
A salvage team looking for the voyage data recorder for the sunken freighter El Faro said on Thursday it had located the bridge deck that separated from the wreckage, but the ship's black box was still missing. National Transportation Safety Board investigators said the search continues for the recorder, which normally is affixed to the bridge but appeared to have detached when the ship sank in a hurricane last month, killing 33 mostly American crew onboard.

German continuer shipping company Hapag-Lloyd AG recorded its third consecutive profitable quarter, marked by higher transport volumes and reduced shipping costs in the third quarter of 2015. First Vessel Launched for BigRoll Shipping
The heavy marine transportation provider BigRoll Shipping announced its first of four MC Class vessels under construction, BigRoll Barentsz, was launched on October 27, 2015 at Cosco Dalian Shipyard. The vessel construction and commissioning remains on schedule for delivery in March 2016. The second BigRoll vessel, the BigRoll Bering is expected to be launched in December, with an expected delivery date of May 2016.

A keynote speaker at the Congress was Robert G Allan, Executive Chairman of Robert Allan Ltd, the designers of the majority of Sanmar's tug and workboat portfolio.
