GAC Support for Tall Ship Tenacious

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

November 13, 2015

The tall ship Tenacious has left her home port in the UK for an epic voyage to Australia. Over the next eight months, she will sail more than 17,000 NM and call at 26 ports en route to her final destination, Sydney. And at every stop along the way, she will be supported by the GAC global network.

The three-masted square rigged 586 GT tall ship is one of two specially designed sailing vessels owned and operated by the Jubilee Sailing Trust, which was set up in 1978 to give people of all physical abilities the chance to experience sailing first hand. The Trust’s mission is to empower both able-bodied and disabled individuals to focus on what they can do rather than what they can’t, and to correct misconceptions about disability. It works to build bridges of awareness and break down barriers for a better, more inclusive world.

Through its global network of own and sub-agent offices, GAC will act as the official port agent for the Tenacious’ voyage from the UK to Australia via the Panama Canal, and will provide a range of complementary services such as fuel supplies, Canal transit coordination and logistics support. GAC Pindar Superyacht Services is also among the sponsors of the vessel’s latest voyage.

Andy Spark, the Jubilee Sailing Trust’s Ship Operations Manager, says: “As the Tenacious and her crew start their latest adventure, it is good to know that we have the practical and moral support of a reliable partner like GAC with the resources and reach to help meet our needs wherever we go. That will play a key role in our mission to overcome preconceived ideas about disabilities and help our crew members win confidence, new friends and real team spirit.”

GAC Pindar Superyacht Services’ Murray Bishop and Amanda Naylor joined representatives from the Jubilee Sailing Trust and other suppliers for a networking day onboard the Tenacious ahead of her embarkation.

“We are strong advocates of the fantastic work of the Jubilee Sailing Trust to open up the world of sailing to people with disabilities, and we are proud to support the latest voyage of the Tenacious,” says Murray. “We look forward to following her progress between now and July next year, and doing everything we can to ensure smooth sailing for her and her crew through the Caribbean and the Pacific islands on route.”
