Eni Norge AS has awarded mechanical engineering group EnerMech a three-year frame agreement to provide lifting and inspection services on the Goliat FPSO project. Bibby Offshore Makes £30M Fleet Investment
Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has invested close to £30million in the past six months increasing its international fleet of subsea support vessels by 40%. Most recently, the company signed a contract to charter EDT Jane, a newbuild remotely operated vehicle support vessel (ROVSV). The company now boasts a fleet of eight vessels and 15 Remote Operating Vehicles (ROV).

US, French Navies Conclude Combined Operations
Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (HST CSG) and French Navy Task Force 473 concluded five weeks of combined carrier strike group operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR) Feb 2. The two strike groups began conducting integrated operations Dec. 26 in the Gulf of Oman and have operated together in the northern Arabian Sea and the Arabian Gulf to enhance regional maritime security and stability. SMIT Salvage Get Angola Jack-Up Platform Removal Contract
Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) subsidiary SMIT Salvage has been awarded a contract to remove a damaged jack-up platform from the seabed offshore Angola. Including the award of this contract, SMIT Salvage has acquired approximately USD 70 million of work year to date. During its installation in July 2013, the platform suffered a punch-through and subsequently rolled over and sank to a depth of 30 meters.
Oil Discovered in Second Oman Exploration Well
Masirah Oil Limited has announced the successful reach of the well target depth in the second exploration well in Block 50 Oman to its final depth of >3,000 metres into the Cambrian formation. Hydrocarbons were discovered in several formations with good oil sample extracted. The well will undergo data acquisition before setting the completion for testing. The well was drilled using the independent leg cantilever jack-up drilling rig Aban VII.
Pacific Drilling Releases Fleet Status Report & Revenue Guidance
Pacific Drilling says that the latest in its fleet of 5 of new ultra-deepwater drillships is in service. Two additional drillships are under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries for delivery in 2014, and an eighth rig is under construction for delivery in March 2015. Pacific Drilling is a fast growing company that says it is committed to becoming the industryâs preferred ultra-deepwater drilling contractor.

Number of UK Seafarers Falls For Third Year
The total number of UK seafarers active at sea fell for the third consecutive year to 22,830 in 2013, according to the government's Department for Transport's Seafarer Statistics, 2013, representing a 5% annual decrease in numbers. Whaling Protest Ship Collides with Japanese Harpoon Vessel
The Sea Shepherd conservation group ship 'Bob Barker' has collided with the Japanese whaling fleet harpoon vessel 'Yushin Maru No. 2' as the harpooners attempted to block them in a recent skirmish lasting about 6 hours in southern Antarctic waters. The incident, say Sea Shepherd, is an attempt to deter the protest ships from their current position, blocking the slipway of the Nisshin Maru, in order to prevent them from loading whales poached from the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.
