Korea Shipbuilder Wins Order for 8 Very Large Gas Carriers
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd (DSME) has won two orders worth a total of US$640-million to build eight very large gas carriers (VLGCs) for two unidentified Asia-based firms reports Reuters. The South Korean shipbuilder said in a statement both firms had ordered four gas carriers each, all expected delivery to be completed by the second half of 2016. Landing Craft Becomes Floating Repair Facility
Platinum Yacht Repair, the yacht repair and maintenance arm of Dubai's Drydocks World & Maritime World, say they have converted the landing craft Al Hail 1, belonging to Dubai-based M/S Royal Yachts from naval to civilan use as floating yacht repair and maintenance facility. The 54-metre vessel arrived at the Platinum Yacht Repair facility at Dubai Maritime City in June 2013 to undergo the necessary extensive modification and refit.

Biscay Storm Lost Containers Sighted, One Lands on UK Beach
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) was informed that a number of containers were lost from a Maersk cargo ship as it crossed the northern stretches of the Bay of Biscay in stormy conditions on 14, February 2014. CAMAC Contracts FPSO for Offshore Nigeria
CAMAC Energy Inc. announced that a long-term contract has been signed for the floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) Armada Perdana. The contract provides for an initial term of five years beginning January 1, 2014, with an automatic extension for an additional two years unless terminated by CAMAC with prior notice.
