Wison to Build LNG Regasification Barge
Wison Offshore & Marine has announced the award of a binding agreement with Vessel Gasification Solutions (VGS) of New Jersey, U.S.A., for the supply of the industry's first barge-based floating LNG regasification unit (FRU) to be installed offshore India. The FRU, which will be owned by VGS, will consist of a newbuild, non-propelled barge equipped to perform the regasification and send out of a maximum of 1,000MMscf/d of gas.
Commercial Agreement Inked for Alaskan Gasline
Alaskan Governor Sean Parnell welcomed news that a commercial agreement for an Alaska gasline has been signed, marking a major milestone in bringing Alaska’s gas to Alaskans and markets beyond. The agreement, also known as a Heads of Agreement (HOA), was signed by the commissioners of Natural Resources and Revenue, ExxonMobil, BP, ConocoPhillips, TransCanada and the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC). The HOA will be subject to public review by the Legislature this session.

ULTRAGAS Chooses Transas ECDIS Solutions

Hydrex Underwater Repairs in Trinidad
Last month a Hydrex diver/technician team carried out underwater stern tube seal repairs on a 148-meter container vessel in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The ship was suffering from an oil leak, making an on-site repair necessary. Using one of the company’s flexible mobdocks the team was able to carry out the entire operation on-site and underwater, saving the owner an expensive and time-consuming trip to drydock.

Teekay Tankers Ltd. and Teekay Corporation today jointly announced the creation of Tanker Investments Ltd. (TIL), which will seek to opportunistically acquire, operate and sell modern secondhand tankers to benefit from an expected recovery in the current cyclical low of the tanker market. Cty TNHH Vuot Song, the subsidiary shipyard of Roy’s Maritime in Vietnam has just finished the construction of a 16-m long tugboat for New Caledonia, that will be delivered to the ship owner early 2014. Flag State Performance Table: 'Clean Sheet' for UK
According to the Chamber of Shipping's (ICS) latest Flag State Performance Table, the UK has no negative indicators against any of the 18 criteria ICS uses to assess performance. The Maritime and Coast Guard Agency (MCA) says that 1,388 ships, with a gross tonnage of 16.11m, were on the UK Ship Register at the end of September and, according to Clarksons World Fleet Monitor, the UK's is the world's11th largest register. The average age of the UK fleet is 20 years.
