GE Capital, Corporate Finance has announced that it provided US$22.5-million in equipment financing to Laborde Marine. The funds refinance existing debt used to purchase five new crew boats.

Based on the presence of water-ingress in the bottom of the vessel’s midship at the outset of the casualty, the fracture in the vessel’s hull is considered to have originated from the bottom part of the vessel. Hull strength and loads at the time of accident were assessed in order to investigate how the fracture occurred and progressed. Structural hull capacity was analyzed using non-linear finite element 3-hold modeling, and dynamic wave loads including whipping effects were also analyzed.
Nordic American Offshore Order One More Ulstein PSV
Nordic American Tankers' new company, Nordic American Offshore Ltd. (NAO), has extended its preliminary option purchase agreement with Ulstein from six Blue Ship PSV's to seven. The project as described in the earlier Nordic American Tankers' press release, has been expanded to seven PSV vessels, with the option for delivery of this seventh vessel during the spring of 2015. The six vessels are of the PX121 type, and were designed and constructed by Ulstein in 2012-13.

Thailand Tourist Ferry Sinks, 7 Dead 100 Injured
A tourist ferry has capsized in Thailand, near the beach resort city of Pattaya. 200 Thai and foreign tourists were on the (allegedly overloaded) double-decker ferry reports RT News. USCG Overseas Damaged Vessel Transport in GoM
The Coast Guard and state and local authorities began working to ensure the safe transport of two troubled vessels being towed to a Brownsville scrap yard after one began listing into the other Thursday. At approximately 8 a.m. Thursday, the captain of the tug with the vessels in tow called Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders to request assistance as one of the vessels was listing heavily into the other approximately two miles offshore and South of the Mansfield Jetties.
