New Viking Evacuation System
Marine and fire safety equipment company Viking Life-Saving Equipment launched its latest innovation, the Viking LifeCraft system. Jack-Up Barge Remote Support Contract for Imtech
Imtech Marine has been awarded a second Advanced Support Agreement from Jack-Up Barge for 24/7 remote monitoring and maintenance of the systems installed by Imtech Marine on board the newbuild, self-elevating platform JB-118. This follows an earlier and similar contract for the JB-117, where Imtech Marine completed equipment installation in 2012 and subsequently started remote monitoring. The JB-118 was built near Hong Kong in Shenzhen.
Negotiation to Save Finnish Shipyard Completed
STX Finland has been actively seeking solutions for saving the Finnish shipyard industry. In September 2013, the company launched a major restructuring aimed at safeguarding the operating potential of the company and, by extension, the entire maritime industry in Finland, thus ending the years of uncertainty. As part of the STX Finland Oy restructuring, cooperation negotiations concerning the Rauma and Turku Shipyards have been conducted between the personnel groups and the company management.
New Large-Bore Piston Plant Opened in Shanghai
KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH, a subsidiary of first-tier auto-component supplier KSPG AG, has in its Large-Bore Piston unit established a new company specifically for the Asian markets. From its newly opened sales and production location in the Shanghai region, KSLP (China) Co. Ltd. will as from now supply large-bore pistons for marine engines, locomotives and stationary generators to customers in China, Japan, and Korea. Germany's Meyer Werft Float Out 'Norwegian Getaway'
The 146,600-gt cruise ship 'Norwegian Getaway', whose construction has taken just 12 months, has been floated out of Meyer Werft 's covered building dock II for fitting out after tests in the harbour. The new cruise ship's passage down the River Ems towards the North Sea is scheduled to be in the next few weeks with a mid-Janaury 2014 delivery and the crew are already on board for familiarization.
