Mabus Tightens Navy’s Counter-fraud Measures
While the Navy already has one of the strongest counter-fraud efforts in the government, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus today announced new measures to assure contracting integrity and to prevent fraud. Mabus, who briefed the Pentagon press corps this morning, spoke amid a criminal investigation focused on Glenn Defense Marine Asia. The U.S. Department of Justice is prosecuting the case, which alleges the company overcharged the U.S. Navy for husbanding services throughout Asia.

Seatorque Boost for Brazil’s Biggest Superyacht
Brazilian superyacht builder MCP Yachts credited Seatorque Control Systems for contributing to the outstanding performance of its latest launch – the Hemisphere 140 Raffaella II. Incorporating Seatorque’s enclosed drive shaft system, the 43m aluminum vessel, powered by twin Caterpillar C32 1825 HP engines, achieved a top cruising speed of 22 knots during sea trials with an 85% load and 167 metric tons displacement, said MCP president Manoel Chaves.

Marseilles Fos Renews UNCTAD Training Agreement
The Marseilles Fos port authority has signed a five-year renewal of its agreement with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to provide management training for ports in French-speaking Africa. The collaboration dates from 1996 and runs within UNCTAD’s Train for Trade program. Under the scheme, every two years the leading French port hosts a training visit attended by some 20 directors and senior managers from African ports.

BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards Alabama LLC, Mobile, Ala., is being awarded a $32,946,457 firm-fixed-price contract for the regular maintenance and overhaul of USNS Supply (T-AOE 6).
