Effective wastewater treatment and liquids processing is essential to energy production, pipeline and refining operations, both offshore and onshore. To help ensure efficient, reliable power for its fleet of equipment, the Water Treatment Services division of Greene's Energy Group recently chose custom generators packaged and installed by Laborde Products.

Laborde customized four new 40 kW diesel generators for placement in SEPCo-certified, galvanized crash cages for Houston-based Greene's Energy Group, which offers water treatment as just one facet of its worldwide service provision to the oil and gas industry. The generators were outfitted with specially designed components, such as spark arrestors and manual air shutdowns, demanded by the rigors of offshore use.

Such generators increase the operation's flexibility by facilitating placement of the pump's fluid end inside classified areas while the engine remains outside, Laborde said. Although Greene's Energy group had previously rented such diesel generators, their heavy utilization warranted making them a permanent fixture in the company's expanding fleet, according to Elwin Faulk, Greene's general manager.
