BAE Systems continues to support the offshore energy market as it expands new construction efforts and maintenance, repair, overhaul and conversion operations at its shipyards in Mobile, Ala., and Jacksonville, Fla. Earlier this year, BAE Systems began construction on the first of two platform supply vessels for GulfMark Americas, Inc. The 300-Class DP2 vessels are designed by MMC Ship Design and Marine Consulting, Ltd.

Maersk Drilling Order Ultra-harsh Jack-up Rig
The new ultra harsh environment jack-up rig, 'XL Enhanced 4', is to be built at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard in South Korea with delivery scheduled for mid-2016. The total project cost for the rig is USD 650m including a turnkey contract with the yard, owner furnished equipment, project management and capitalised interest. The contract with DSME includes priced options for delivery of up to two additional units with delivery in 2016/2017.

Capital Corp Merchant Banking, a U.S.-based merchant banking group, say they have been working on an environmentally friendly ballast water treatment system (BWTS) project with a client and have entered into USD $41-million funding agreement with them. This patent-pending project makes better, more energy-efficient use of existing ballast water treatment technologies, resulting in a smaller energy footprint of the system and decreasing the ship's power-capacity needs.

Nordic Yards in Wismar, Germany, has awarded Kongsberg Maritime a contract to deliver an Integrated Vessel Control System for a newbuild 80m Wind Turbine Service Jack-Up Vessel, owned by Danish offshore services specialist, DBB Jack-Up. The integrated 'Full Picture' solution covers navigation, automation and manoeuvring systems, and will be one of the first to feature Kongsberg Maritime's recently launched LAN-based Radar system.
