Survitec Liferafts Earn RRR Approval
The inland waterways of Russia can now benefit form a new standard of safety equipment following the approval granted to the Survitec Group’s Survitec Zodiac brand by the Russian River Register (RRR). The approval was granted after inspectors from the Register completed a detailed study of the liferafts, escape slides and rescue boats manufactured by Survitec Group under the Survitec Zodiac brand.

Pirou Expands Fast Passenger/Supply Family
Following delivery of the Bourbon Norte, their fourth 53-meter Fast Passenger/Supply Vessel, the French-based Piriou Shipyards have announced plans for a 41 by 8.2-meter version of the very successful design to be designated FPSV40. The 53-meter vessels are each powered by four Cummins KTA50-M2 engines each producing 1,323 kW (1,800 HP) at 1,900 RPM. The smaller vessels will require only three of the KTA50-M2 engines with each producing 1193 (1,622 HP) at 1,800 RPM.

New Foss Ferry Begins Work on the Columbia River
A new ferry, the product of a unique partnership between Foss Maritime, a confederation of Native American tribes and state government, began service on the Columbia River after a christening ceremony on August 14, 2013. The new Sanpoil ferry, a 20-car aluminum-hulled vessel with advanced technology for cleaner air, was constructed at Foss Maritime's Rainier, Ore. shipyard in 11 aluminum sections.

Danish Ferry to Operate on LNG Fuel
Marine industry solutions and services provider Wärtsilä is to supply the main propulsion generating sets for a new, environmentally sound, double ended ferry. The ship, which is the first gas fuelled ferry for a domestic route in Denmark, will operate between Jutland and the island of Samsø and will carry passengers, cars and trucks. The vessel, designed by the Danish OSK-ShipTech A/S, will be built for the Danish municipality Samsø Kommune by Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. in Gdansk, Poland.
