UK Port Apprentices Get Jobs
PD Ports has announced the creation of 13 full time permanent positions for Teesport based apprentices. The new dock operations roles in both bulks and container related areas of the business will commence at the end of April, after the existing apprenticeship programme completes. The programme took over 18 months of training and is on track to achieve 100% success rate with all 13 apprentices achieving a NVQ Level 2 in Dock Operations.
Washington Governor Makes Weld on State’s Second Ferry
Washington Governor Jay Inslee officially kicked off the construction of M/V Samish, the state’s newest 144-car ferry, by making the first weld on the vessel at Vigor Industrial’s Seattle shipyard Friday. New 35W T5 LED Driver from Thomas Research Products
Thomas Research Products introduced a line of 35W LED drivers that feature a form factor matching T5 fluorescent ballasts. These 35W drivers are an expansion of TRP's standard LED series. Being sized to match T5-style ballasts offers the flexibility of use them in existing fixture designs. OEM's can use them in new offerings, or they can be utilized for LED retrofits in the field. Input voltage ranges from 120Vac to 277Vac. They are IP65 rated.

New Brazilian Warship Departs the U.K.
The latest addition to the Brazilian Navy’s fleet departed the UK in the snow for her new home in Rio de Janeiro where she will strengthen Brazil’s maritime security. Apa is the second of three Amazonas Class Ocean Patrol Vessels being delivered to the Brazilian Navy by BAE Systems. GSP to Provide Services for Gazprom Neft
Operations are scheduled to start at the beginning of June and will be carried out in Dolginskoye oil field, located in the Pechora Sea, in the south eastern part of the Barents Sea, the continental shelf of the Russian Federation. MODU GSP Jupiter shall perform the drilling, logging, completion and testing of North-Dolginskaya № 3 well. A fleet of four offshore support vessels including two owned by GSP will assist the rig during the drilling operations scheduled in the Pechora Sea.
