FKAB secured a contract for the design of a 2,400m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) for the Taiwanese Kaohsiung Harbour Authority which will be built at Taiwan’s Ching Fu Shipyard. FKAB Sweden performed basic drawings, FKAB China office will carry out detail and production design with Nupas-Cadmatic. Even though FKAB has had Nupas-Cadmatic licenses for a couple of years, they were all used in the Dalian office.
‘Super-sized’ Seaway Cargoes to U.S Ports

Economic conditions and severe weather conditions have formed the perfect storm to slow some traditional trade at U.S. ports along the St. Lawrence Seaway System. The St. Lawrence Seaway reported that year-to-date total cargo shipments for the period March 22 to July 31 was 17.1 million metric tons, virtually flat over the same period in 2011. While July is usually a slow month on the System, not all the news was negative.

This was recently the same backdrop for a ribbon-cutting ceremony which celebrated the official opening of three new buildings at Austal’s state-of-the-art shipbuilding operation in Mobile, Ala.

The 175 page report Floating Production Systems: Assessment of the Outlook for FPSOs, Semis, TLPs, Spars, FLNGs, FSRUs and FSOs is the 47th in a series of IMA reports on the deepwater production sector that began in 1996.
