Shangai's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding contracted by Grimaldi Group to build 5 large RoRo container ships. The new generation of 3,800-teu Ro-Ro container ships will replace ACL's existing fleet of such types of ship operating in the company's transatlantic service and they will be the first of their type ever built. The newbuilds will be bigger, faster, greener and more efficient than their predecessors, according to ACL. All five vessels are to be delivered in 2015.

Laysky Shipyard in Archangel, Russia, launches the 'Iskander' tugboat for delivery to Ecotek-Bunker after sea trials. The new tugboat will transport barges laden with coal, firewood, construction materials to remote areas of the Arkhangelsk region: Mezen, Kamenka, Onega, and to the Nenets Autonomous District. This is the second ice-class tug launched at Laysky Shipyard in the past eighteen months. The Laysky Shipyard is located in the Lay River estuary, a tributary of the Northern Dvina.

EU Naval Force Somalia (EU NAVFOR) Operation Atalanta & NATO disrupt 2 pirated dhows in the Gulf of Aden & free hostage crew. A suspicious dhow, reportedly pirated in Bosaso – Somalia, was located off the coast of Oman by the Spanish EU NAVFOR Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft (MPRA).
