Petrobras Charter FPSO for Offshore Brazil Project
Petrobras with partners BG Group and Petrogal Brasi inks charter of the FPSO from Schahin Petróleo e Gás S.A. and Modec Inc. The Floating Production Storage & Offloading vessel (FPSO) will be used in the production development project of the area known as Iracema Norte, in block BM-S-11, in the pre-salt of Santos Basin. The project includes the interconnection of 16 wells to the FPSO - 8 production and 8 injection wells - and production is expected to start in December 2015.

Container ship owners Hapag-Lloyd report increased revenue and profits in the third quarter 2012. Hapag-Lloyd was able to increase freight rates, revenue and results in the third quarter, although the market environment remains challenging. The average freight rate rose year on year by 8% to USD 1,647/TEU. The rate increases initiated by Hapag-Lloyd in the first quarter and implemented in the second quarter had a tangible effect here.

USNS Montford Point Floated from NASSCO Building Dock
General Dynamics NASSCO completed the complex float out operation for the first Mobile Landing Platform (MLP) ship, USNS Montford Point. Construction of the USNS Montford Point is progressing ahead of schedule, with the ship currently at 91% complete. The ship will now undergo final outfitting and testing pier side before completing sea trials. USNS Montford Point is scheduled to be christened in March 2013 and delivered to the U.S. Navy in May 2013.

Intermanager Supports Seafarers' Survey
InterManager, the international trade association for the shipmanagement and crewmanagement industry, is supporting a survey which aims to identify how much of a burden red tape places on seafarers. The Association is urging its members to encourage their staff to take part in the online survey, being organised by the Danish Maritime Authority. The worldwide study aims to identify seafarers' perception of administrative burdens and how these influence their daily working lives.
Huge Section of HMS Queen Elizabeth Arrives at Rosyth
The Final hull section of aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth has arrived at Babcock’s Rosyth dockyard. The 11,300 tonne aft section of hull, known as Lower Block 04 (LB04), made its way under the Forth Bridges shortly before 11am on Remembrance Sunday. It left BAE Systems’ yard on the Clyde last Sunday (November 4). The section has travelled all the way around the south coast to reach the Fife assembly site, a journey of more than 1,200 miles.
