Submarine Lembit Reaches Land
The evening of Saturday, 21 May, saw the completion of a long and complicated engineering technical process, as a result of which the 600-tonne submarine Lembit is now securely on land. Submarine Lembitwas lifted out along a 100-metre ramp or slip built especially for that purpose at the Seaplane Harbour. For winching the submarine out, Lembit was supported by 8-metre pontoons and armoured car BTS-4, built on the basis of T54 and equipped with a winch, was used to pull the submarine out.
Odfjell Receives $50.7M from Russia
Odfjell received today USD 50.7 million from Sevmash following the Russian Supreme Court's rejection of the appeal from the yard. The amount includes the award from the arbitration panel in Stockholm, legal cost and accumulated interest. In 2009 Odfjell accounted for the awarded amount with USD 43.3 million as income. Our efforts to enforce the payment of the award have been ongoing since December 2009, and the first ruling in favour of Odfjell was in the Court of Arkhangelsk in December 2010.
Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum for Greece
The potential for sea tourism and its significance as a key factor in the development of the economies of Greece, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea region will be examined in depth during the Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum, scheduled to take place 21-22 June 2011 at the prestigious Onassis Cultural Centre in Athens. The forum will focus on three key areas of sea tourism: cruise shipping, the yachting industry and inter-island and passenger shipping.

During attendance at this weekend’s Coaltrans Asia 2011, world-leading maritime services provider Wilhelmsen Ships Service has reported a significant increase in the sales of its Cargo Hold Cleaning (CHC) Kits in Asia. Wilhelmsen Ships Service offers a choice of kits, equipment and accessories for efficient cargo hold cleaning, which negate the use of scaffolding and other climbing or lifting equipment.
Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group’s “Upwind Sailing Strategy”
“Shipbuilding enterprises must be able to handle any strong waves that come their way, and their ships must be solidly built yet be able to move flexibly. Since 2008, the Chinese shipbuilding industry has experienced many ups and downs. The first was the big increase in shipbuilding steel material prices in 2008, with the prices at some steel producers reaching 10,000 RMB per ton, resulting in price increases of 21% to 30% over four months.

Golar LNG Q1 Results 2011
Golar secures charters for its 4 modern vessels of between 12 and 18 months. In April 2011, Golar LNG acquired shares in subsidiary company Golar LNG Energy Limited via private placement share swaps and cash purchases that increased its ownership to 95.1%. A voluntary offer has subsequently been made for the balance of the outstanding shares of Golar LNG Energy Limited and Golar LNG currently owns 99.4 % of the shares.
Landmark Research Agreement with Sintef
Statoil and Sintef have signed a new framework agreement – one which likely to be the most comprehensive individual research agreement ever signed in Norway. With a potential value of NOK 1 billion, the agreement is valid for four years with an option for an additional two plus two years. “Sintef has both wide and expert knowledge in disciplines that are important to Statoil, such as deepwater and multi-phase technology,” says Statoil research and development head Karl Johnny Hersvik.
