BMT Achieves Strong Financial Results
BMT Group Ltd, the international design, engineering and risk management consultancy, announced today that it has achieved strong financial results, despite a difficult year for the global economy and the maritime industry in particular. GL Wins 4 Suezmax Tankers
"Nordic Apollo", "Nordic Cosmos" and "Nordic Moon" are now in service with GL classification, "Nordic Neptun" will follow soon. The four Suezmax tankers from Norwegian shipowner "Nordic American Tanker Shipping" (NAT) have been transferred to GL class. The contract was signed in early February in Norway. NAT is the world's third largest stock listed tanker operator. The company operates only modern double hull suezmax tankers.

Power conversion specialist Converteam has shipped the first of two massive 75 tonne, 36 Megawatt generators designed specifically to match the electrical power requirement of the propulsion motors for the Royal Navy's Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers. General Dynamics NASSCO $744M Contract
SAN DIEGO – General Dynamics NASSCO announced today that it has received from the U.S. Navy a $744 million modification to its Mobile Landing Platform (MLP) contract to fully fund construction of the first two ships of the new ship class. Construction of the first ship will begin immediately, with delivery to occur by the spring of 2013. The contract includes an option for the construction of a third MLP which, if exercised, will increase the total contract value to approximately $1.3 billion.
