AAM to Construct USACE Survey Catamaran
All American Marine, Inc. (AAM) was recently awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for the design and construction of a new hydrofoil supported aluminum catamaran survey vessel. The vessel will primarily perform survey missions and some dive operations in support of dredging work planned within the Corps’ Philadelphia District. USACE has designated that the new catamaran will replace the aging survey boat, Shuman, which currently fills the mission critical role.

Proposed Changes to Long Island Sound Dredged Material Sites
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to amend its 2005 rule that designated the Central and Western Long Island Sound Dredged Material Disposal Sites. The proposed amendments will help meet the goal of reducing or eliminating dredged material disposal in open waters of the Sound. These amendments are available for public review and comment through March 25, 2016, and the EPA will also hold two public hearings on the proposed amendments in early March.
Port of Hamburg Reports Bulk Cargo Jump in 2015
The Port of Hamburg reports higher bulk cargo throughput and strong growth in rail and inland waterway seaport-hinterland traffic in 2015 – downturn in container handling. In 2015 seaborne cargo throughput in the Port of Hamburg was 5.4 percent lower at 137.8 million tons. In Hamburg as a universal port, growth in bulk cargo throughput was maintained in 2015. In this important handling segment, total volume of 45.5 million tons represented growth of 5.8 percent on the previous year.
