Dyersburg, Tenn. based Inland Dredging Co. has been awarded a contract from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Galveston District for channel pipeline dredging in Brownsville, Texas.The company beat out three other bidders to secure the $10,433,550 firm-fixed-price contract.Work is estimated to be completed by June 19, 2024.

Maintaining a nine-foot channel on the Mississippi River is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District’s critical navigation mission, especially during low-water conditions. Although early spring snowmelt caused flooding throughout the upper Midwest this past year, water levels receded quickly, causing large amounts of material to settle in the channel.To aid in channel maintenance, geological surveyors regularly monitor water levels throughout the District.
Concordia Damen Converts Inland Shipping Vessel into TSHD

Concordia Damen recently delivered a special project that involved the conversion of a Dutch barge into a Nigerian dredger. The trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Sayonara has now arrived and is at work on the Lagos Lagoon.Three years ago, the Werkendam shipyard came into contact with a Nigerian dredging company via Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. This eventually led to the start of the complex conversion project in December 2021.
