Oversupplied Japanese LNG Players to Sell off Excess Volumes
Asian spot LNG prices extended losses this week as oversupplied Japanese utilities sought to offload cargoes and as key European gas benchmarks softened. Asian prices for LNG delivery in March fell 25 cents to about $7.75 per million British thermal units (mmBtu), traders said, ranging from $8/mmBtu to about $7.60/mmBtu. Prices tailed off even more sharply into April, currently trading at around the $7/mmBtu mark, they said.

World's First Barge-based FSRU Exits Dry Dock
The worldâs first barge-based Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) has undocked from dry-dock in Nantong, China, announced Wison Offshore & Marine, who provided EPC services for Exmar. Upon the undocking, topside installation has been completed, which paves the way for delivery. This is the first FSRU being built in China and the facility is to become the worldâs first FSRU with small-scale storage capacity. This non-propelled FSRU barge has a regasification capacity of 600MMSCFD.

LNG Ferry Megastar Delivered to Tallink
Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku Shipyard delivered the state-of-the-art LNG fast ferry Megastar to owner Tallink on January 24. The newly built ferry will begin plying the Helsinki-Tallinn route on January 29 as the most technologically advanced fast ferry in the Baltic Sea. The 212-meter-long Megastar uses liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel, but is also able to run on marine diesel. With LNG, the vessel will create no sulphur or soot particles and decreasing the nitrogen and CO2 emissions.
