Norwegian shipbuilder Kleven announced it has signed an agreement with Danish fishing vessel owner Gitte Henning AS to build a combined pelagic trawler/purse seiner.

The vessel, of SALT 0155 design, has been developed in a close cooperation between the ship owner, designer Salt Ship Design and Kleven. At 90.5 meters long and 17.8 meters wide, the vessel will reportedly be the largest pelagic fishing vessel within its segment.

A number of Norwegian suppliers are also involved in the project. Among them are Brunvoll, Scana Volda, Hareid Elektriske, Karmøy Winch and MMC.

Kleven expects to deliver the vessel from its Myklebust Verft yard in the fourth quarter of 2017.

With the latest shipbuilding order, Kleven’s orderbook now holds 16 vessels, valued at more than 10 billion NOK in total.
