Steel, Aluminum Tariffs a 'Bad Idea' -Morgan Stanley CEO
Morgan Stanley's top executive said on Wednesday that potential tariffs on steel and aluminum that U.S. "The biggest issues this country faces are not trade deficits, they're fiscal deficits," Chief Executive Officer James Gorman told CNBC. Gorman said that imposing tariffs on a country or ally that the United States sells a lot of goods to is not the "best way to move forward." He added that there may be retaliation from other countries due to the tariffs.

Port Hedland Iron Ore Exports to China Fell 10% in February
Iron ore shipments to China from Australia's Port Hedland terminal fell nearly 10 percent in February to 31.3 million tonnes, down from 34.7 million tonnes a month earlier, port data released on Thursday showed. Overall August iron ore shipments from the world's biggest export terminal for the steelmaking raw material fell to 38.5 million tonnes in February from 41.1 million tonnes in January, according to the Pilbara Ports Authority.

Oil Platform Fire near Corpus Christi Put Out
The United States Coast Guard said a fire on a Magellan-owned oil platform about three miles offshore of Corpus Christi, Texas on Wednesday afternoon has been put out. No one was aboard the platform at the time of the fire and a response boat crew reported that it was out at about 6:30 p.m., the coast guard said in a statement. Fatal US Destroyer Collision Caused by 'Sudden Turn' -Singapore
A U.S. guided missile destroyer's deadly collision with an oil tanker near Singapore in 2017 was caused by "a sudden turn" made by the warship that put it in the path of the commercial vessel, said a report by the Singapore government on Thursday. The collision on Aug. 21, which killed 10 sailors and was one of a handful of incidents in the Asia Pacific region involving U.S. Navy warships, raised questions about Navy training and led to the removal of a number of officers.
