New Fireboat Delivered in Pittsburgh
Lake Assault Boats said it has delivered a 34-foot fireboat to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire in Pittsburgh, Penn. The vessel is the department’s first new dedicated fireboat since 1974. The new fireboat, named after Pittsburgh’s first female mayor, Sophie Masloff, who passed away in 2014, was dedicated on October 27. In a formal ceremony, the former mayor’s eldest granddaughter broke a bottle of champagne on the boat’s gunnel as it was launched into the Ohio River.
Oil Prices Rise on Supply Cuts, Tensions
Oil prices rose nearly 1 percent on Thursday, supported by supply cuts by major exporters as well as continuing concern about political developments in Saudi Arabia. Brent crude oil was up 59 cents or 0.9 percent to $64.08 a barrel by 11:30 a.m. (1630), still close to Tuesday's intra-day high of $64.65, which was the highest since June 2015. U.S. light crude was up 46 cents or 0.8 percent at $57.27, just shy of this week's more than two-year high of $57.69 a barrel.
Damen Signs Contract with Multraship
At the Europort exhibition in Rotterdam, Multraship and Damen signed a contract for the build and delivery of two Damen Stan Launch 804s. The new launches will be operated by Multraship subsidiaries Montis Mooring Boatservice BV and Verenigde Bootlieden BV. Verenigde Bootlieden BV and Montis Mooring Boatservice BV provide boatmen and other specialist marine services in the port of Terneuzen, the Netherlands.

Cyber security is a pervasive issue globally, particularly in the commercial maritime sector where ship to shore and "always on" connectivity is still in its infancy. ChartCo introduced version 5.4 of its EnviroManager. Already installed on over 500 vessels since its launch in early 2017, EnviroManager consolidates information to assist vessels to comply with MARPOL regulations for discharges and emissions. EnviroManager includes the baseline information for each nation as required by regulations.
