New MTU Engines Make Their Debut
At the international maritime exhibition Nor-Shipping in Oslo from May 30 to June 2 2017, MTU, part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, presented its propulsion and systems portfolio, primarily for offshore supply vessels, workboats and ferries. This included Series 2000, 4000 and 8000 propulsion engines in an output range from 400 to 10,000 kW, hybrid propulsion solutions and diesel electric propulsion systems and diesel gensets for the supply of on-board power.
New Containerships for Eimskip, Arctic Line
Iceland’s Eimskip Ltd. and Greenland-based Royal Arctic Line A/S have ordered three new Arctic-capable 2,150 TEU containerships to be built at the Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard in China. The new vessels, designed by Deltamarin to fit the two ship owners’ trading routes, will measure 180 meters in length and 31 meters breadth, larger than the current vessels in the trade. The ice class ships will comply with the newly adopted IMO Polar Code.

Delfin Project Gains US Approval to Export LNG
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has approved a long-term application to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the first offshore project, Delfin LNG, LLC. Exports in the amount of 1.8 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas are approved from Delfin’s proposed offshore Louisiana floating LNG terminal in the Gulf of Mexico. Development of the Delfin project offshore of Cameron Parish, La. will include the construction of floating liquefaction and storage vessels.

New Push Boat Delivered to Devall Towing
The newly built M/V Jackson Scott has been delivered to owner Devall Towing and Boat Service of Hackberry, La. The Jackson Scott is a 64’ X 27’ inland push boat, powered by two fully mechanical, EPA Tier 3 engines rated 630HP @ 1,600RPM. The engines are coupled to Twin Disc MG 5222 transmissions turning four-blade 70” X 56” propellers. The M/V Jackson Scott follows four previous Devall Towboats with the same propulsion package from Laborde Products.
