Kelleys Island Ferry at Great Lakes Shipyard
Great Lakes Shipyard was awarded a drydocking contract by Kelleys Island Ferry Boat Line for the M/V Carlee Emily. Maintenance work includes five-year drydocking, U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) inspection and surveys as well as miscellaneous routine repairs. The ferry was hauled out using the 770-MT Mobile Marine Travelift on April 10, 2017. Work is expected to be completed later this month, allowing the ferry to return to service as soon as possible.

PPG Debuts New Coatings for Steel, Metal Applications
PPG has introduced PSX 800 and PSX 805 coatings for steel and metal surfaces, two next-generation products formulated with greater flexibility and hiding performance than competing polysiloxane coatings. According to PPG, the two new products feature improved flexibility, which enables them to withstand the cracking under stress commonly associated with difficult steel, tank exterior and building exterior applications.
Newmar Battery Chargers for Restored PT Boat
A U.S. Navy World War II PT boat, which was recently restored and rebuilt by volunteers at The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, has been equipped with modern state-of-the-art battery chargers from Newmar. After more than a decade of volunteer-provided planning and restoration work, PT-305 motored to its new home in a custom-built boathouse on Lake Pontchartrain March 25, where visitors can tour and arrange rides on the fully functioning vessel.

Baltic Index Rises as Panamax Rates Hits High
The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, rose on Wednesday as panamax rates surged to their highest in over three years and capesize activity firmed up. The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, rose for the fourth straight session. The index was up 20 points, or 1.58 percent, at 1,282 points. The panamax index hit its highest since January 2014.

The newbuild, Spartacus, is being built at the Royal IHC yard in the Netherlands on behalf of Belgium based Dredging International (DEME).
