Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) has specified twin Volvo Penta 13-liter 400 hp diesel engines to power its two new Elizabeth River ferries – River Ferry IV and V – due to enter service later this year. New Cranes for Helsingborg, St. Petersburg Ports
Liebherr Maritime Cranes recently delivered a new mobile harbor crane, type LHM 550, to the Port of Helsingborg. In addition, Container Terminal St. Petersburg got two machines of the same type. All three machines are equipped with electric prime movers. At the end of August, a new Liebherr mobile harbor crane, type LHM 550, the latest investment by Port of Helsingborg arrived at the Västhamnen. The crane was shipped fully assembled by barge from the Liebherr facility in the Port of Rostock.
NASSCO Delivers Jones Act Tanker to SEA-Vista
On November 8, 2016, shipbuilder General Dynamics NASSCO delivered the American Jones Act-qualified ECO Class tanker Constitution to SEA-Vista LLC. The ship was delivered during a signing ceremony at the builder’s shipyard in San Diego. Construction on Constitution began in June 2015, and the vessel was christened and launched on August 27, 2016. Constitution was built for SEA-Vista, a partnership between SEACOR Holdings Inc.
ABB Partners with Chinese Shipyard to Develop Digital Tech
ABB said it has signed a formal agreement with Chinese shipyard Wuchang Ship Building Group to deepen cooperation with an emphasis on developing greener ships and digital solutions. By utilizing ABB’s power and propulsion expertise along with its focus on maritime software, the partnership will help Wuchang Ship Building Group manufacture highly efficient and technologically advanced vessels, ABB said.
